Hello there at OSI, my name is Ronald Payne. I'm here to enquire about an offer that I have for you.
I'm the captain of a ship called the RV.Tranquillity. As I'm sure you can tell by the name it's a research vessel, to be exact it's a retrofitted old passenger liner. Seeing as I don't know you personally I won't go into details about the sort of research going on aboard the ship. Instead what I will say is that if it was particularly safe we wouldn't be doing it on a ship far away from easy to acquire supplies and resources which we are currently lacking in.
This brings me to the point of why I am here talking with you, due to how dangerous our research is we dare not land on any local planets or stations. As such we need supplies brought directly to our ship, and I'm willing to pay you to make sure they get here.
So what I'm looking for is a delivery of the following items at the end of each week:
(A) Wrote:Food rations:200 units Oxygen:200 units Water:200 units H-Fuel:1000 units Pharmaceuticals:50 units
At the end of every fourth week we will require:
(B) Wrote:Food rations:200 units Oxygen:200 units Water:200 units H-Fuel:1000 units Pharmaceuticals:50 units
Cryocubes:15 units
There is one last little thing before we get onto the payment though, because the Omicrons aren't well... the friendliest of places we have to keep on the move in order to avoid the risk of being blown to bits. This means we would have to contact you at the start of each week to provide you with an exact location and a time to drop the supplies off towards the end of the week.
For the payment here is what I can offer you:
-Five million credits for supply run (A).
-Seven million credits for supply run (B).
-A bonus of one and a half million credits for every jump from Omega-49 our location is.
-A bonus of two million credits to the pilot for putting their life at moderate risk.
I want to know, what would you think of an arrangement like this? I am willing to negotiate with you on the details offcourse and I look forward to hearing your reply on the matter.
My name is David Starr, Director of Public Relations at OSI. We thank you for your preference.
Although small, you offer a very interesting contract, so should be no problem diverting a transport once a week towards your location. But first I have a few points I would like to clear.
- First: you say you would like to receive 1 (one) shipment of the type "A" once a week, and 1(one) shipment of the type "B" once every 4 (four) weeks. What is not clear to me is: in the fourth week you want to receive only the type "B" shipment, or a delivery with types "A" and "B" combined?
- Second: you say your research is a dangerous one. That you do not dare to land on a planet or dock on a populated station. But you classified the risk for the pilot as 'moderate'. What kind of danger that would be? I need to know, 'cause it could very well influence the pilot's procedures. Also, it's not anything that could create us both problems with the Order, I hope?
Thank you for your time, Mr. Payne. I will remain available in this same frequency.
Best regards,
David Starr

I'm glad to hear back from you so soon, I'm more than happy to clarify these things which I may not have made clear enough to you.
Firstly, the cycle of the shipments to be delivered. On the first to the third week we would like only shipment (A) to be delivered. On the fourth we would like only shipment (B) to be delivered. We would then like this cycle to repeat for as long as necessary, which at the moment is an undefined period of time.
Secondly, the danger to your pilot. Right well when I say moderate, what I really mean is that we have tried to minimise the risk to them by temporarily shutting down our experiment three hours before your arrival and then putting everything into cryo-freezing using those lovely cryocubes from shipment (B). However there is the potential risk that some of our standard equipment - such as the nuclear devices may explode, blowing up my ship and every ship around us. The second danger arises from what we are studying, although nothing has happened yet in a worst case scenario sort of thing it could kill everyone for miles around us or possibly call an entire fleet of nomads to our position, however like I said we have taken steps to minimise the risk and we are sure that we would pick them up on scanners before they got anywhere near us.
Oh, and offcourse I'm sure it wouldn't get us in any trouble with the Order, however at the same time that doesn't mean we should go announcing our research to them, not just yet at any rate.
I hope that I have successfully helped clarify these matters for you, and again look forward to hearing your reply soon.
Well, as long as the risk remains 'potential' only, I suppose we have no problem there. In any case, I will probably dispatch an escort anyway, since, you know, it's the omicrons, so it might be used to take a look at your ship before the transport approaches.
Anyway, now we expect your schedule and position for the first delivery.
Best regards,

It's great to hear that reply from you, it seems one really can count on Omicrons Supply Industries.
For the moment we should have enough supplies to keep us going until the end of next week, so lets meet up say next Saturday in Omicron Delta. I will send a more exact time and location via encrypted channels, just on the off-chance that someone has managed to breech the encryption on this channel, though I do very much doubt so.
That's five jumps, meaning that the total payment will be 14,500,000 credits for the first shipment.
I hope this works out well enough for you, and I am look forward to meeting up with your pilots in space.
