could it be possible to set not just the min and max of a commodity at a base, but to also have an option to set the minimum left on the base that cant be sold
eg
if i have say liberty ale and i have 250 of them, i want the option that all can be bought off the base but leave 1 left not buy able and still show in the list of commodities
ive tried
/shop price ## 800 1 250 , but doesnt leave 1 left, all can be bought

am i missing something?

I noticed this too and its really odd.
It wont pay attention to min values anymore.

Is it really such a problem to leave 1 unit left on there as a placeholder?

If you buy 249, then try to buy 1 will it sell?
Since the beginning it has always been able to get below the minimum limit if you buy in one load.
If you setting reinforced alloys
if reinforced alloys is number 10 on list
if reinforced alloys price is 100
if you want to keep 1 unit on base and sell the rest
then
/shop price 10 100 1 250
This means that the base will not show the commodity on the list until the minimum amount on the base is "1"
so if there is "2" units on the base then it will show "1" for sale and keep "1" in the base & wont be showing on the commodity list unless you LOGIN to the base , then you will be able to see it
Your not missing anything, if someone went and bought 249 of the commodity they then wouldn't be able to buy the last one. When I used to have a POB I tested this with an ore I kept on the base, say there was 100,000 ore on a base and I wanted say 15k left over for myself I'd set the minimum limit to 15k, people then bought about 70,000 units of the ore, I then decided to try and buy all the remaining ore with my barge without logging into the base and it let me.
So it seems that until the base is actually on the limit or below it, it's possible for someone to buy more of the commodity than you wish to sell.
EDIT: I tested this during 4.86 when we still used basic alloys so I don't know if anything has changed since then in any way with it.

tried that, doesnt work, even if not logged in, i can still buy the last one
and then disappears from the list
i just simply need 1 to stay on the list and cannot be bought
