I'm all for fuel-less cloaking and jump drives for those two ships though. The nomads are supposed to be a powerful, unpredictable, superior foe, something to be feared when encountered. The fact that we've gone and balanced them into nothing more than another faction like any human faction has killed that feeling.
Agreed. I remember times on Aussie (unofficial) server (was it 4.83?), where two enemy player factions (with serious firepower) were forced make a truce after large group of NPC Nomads entered the scene. And by large I mean several BS and hellload of gunboats, fighters...
Hey, I have idea. What about spawns on inside random system of huge amount of Nomads each week?
I remember times when NPC Wilde were the very deadly foe for traders who wandered between Kusari and Rheinland with that jumphole... They were as deadly as BS+GB in Leeds nowadays, despite Wilde having mere fighters. The thrill when you had to decide: safer longer route - or risky fast path? And that FEAR you felt when Wilde shown up on your screen, that adrenaline rush when you were running away from them... I didn't even had account here back then.
I mean, let's request random Nomad invasions in a random system each day. This would bring more fun and tears into roleplay.
Nomad invasions wold be awesome, wether they are due to player jumping around or nomad NPCs spawning en masse. Definitely a lot of potential; you'd have lawfuls being forced to ally with unlawfuls to just survive and try and push back the nomads. And you could have "capture" events where Nomads capture/take control of a system/part of a system, and the human factions have to throw them out over either a few hours, days, or even weeks depending on how many nomads and humans there are. And pushing them out could involve killing a certain amount of NPCs, or destroying objects in space, or a few other things.
