The power core is perhaps the number one eye raising feature of the Ingenuus Facilities. And perhaps the number one worry of houses if the facility is required to be present. Included in this report will be general information about the systems, and the working behind it. I'm afraid you won't get the full details from this document, although your scientists who look through this document should learn enough from it to understand that the risk factor of the facilities presence is about minimal.
Lets start with the main attraction. The single Nomad related equipment is a power cell. While many groups have struggled putting the piece into good use, there is infact a few methods where harnessing and controlling the energy released by the cell is possible.
Fail-safe
Step One
While I can not completely assure you that the core may react badly at some times in space, i'll start by assuring you that if any accsident does happen, it can be contained to the unmost highest level. There are three layers of fail-safe systems surrounding the energy core.
As any system would do when it creates energy, it creates heat. This is the fundimental system behind any power system that we use normally. Fission reactors. Fusion reactors. Even old combustion reactors. Heat is always a byproduct which is usually turned into rotational energy. From the rotational energy, you get the magnetic pieces which generate the physical energy that you route all over the place to the required parts.
The cell is quite a bit different in that case. Instead of releasing heat as a biproduct, energy itself is released as a biproduct. While the energy is nowhere close to being able to be used normally, with a siphoning process which can perhaps be related to wireless energy through radio waves (This is not the case in our system, however the concept is about the same) you can transmit the 'dirty' energy, and refine it through Azurite cylinders to create the plasmic agitation that then can be re-converted back to power. While it's not the most efficient, this two stage conversion process allows us to completely shut the power system out from releasing energy.
Step 2
The next step in preventing any harm to the surroundings or people, is sealing the core away where it can begin a cool-down phase. Part of the siphon process done by the system to extract the energy that the Nomad core has to offer, has to do with a lot of metal around the core. Each of these serve the purpose of directing the outputted energy, since the core releases in an pattern of all directions, down to a singular point. Each of these rods and auxilary surrounding pieces contain a power supply circuit in each of them, used both by a capacitance system to hold any excess energy as buffer energy if the system becomes too saturated, as well as emergency power draw. See the diagram below on more details for the power supply.
If this 'buffer' storage begins to get too high, a large sign of an overload. each piece is mechanically begun to be moved towards the power core. Due to the heat as a biproduct that it releases, the metal begins to weld itself over the core, completely encasing it in metal. While this does give some damage to the core itself, the amount of energy which escapes from the enclosure is next to minimum.
Step 3
If worse comes to worse and nothing else we throw at it will prevent an overload, there is always the last resort. The core when exposed to certain levels of gravitons, does a rather interesting fluctuation. The energy core once agitated by gravitons begins to release a very large amount of energy. Then it merely stops. The core seems to slip into a 'sleep' period lasting three weeks until it slowly starts to wake up again. While this can only be achieved through close contact injection of the particles (Which isn't easy to control in the first place) -- This can be contained.
The result
Worse case scenario. There's a mild EMP flare around the ship, a lot of internal damage is taken. None of the surroundings effected, besides perhaps a TV signal being wiped from existence, which is re-established in a few minutes.
Do not worry about the Nomad technology on the vessel. We've had our own experiments enough to make it safe for surrounding people. We would not propose any contact with people if it was any other way.
If you have questions about the Cloaking device, it's merely a standard cloaking drive which has been integrated to the energy stream of the powercore. That was done completely by us, not influenced by anything else.
If you ask me, the only thing you should be worried about is the engines. If you get behind those things very closely, you'll experience a very nasty shock even inside of your ship. Of course however, this range is so small. If you got in range of 'any' engines, you'd experience similar effects. Ours is no different.
