Alright alright I should've come with this a little earlier, I know. Me and a couple of guys re-thought about this very often. Now I'm asking officially around of people willing to do this with me as I wanna know who would be interested.
The idea is basicly a rewrite of the old harvester Lore fitting into the current Ai Lore but still having the Nostalgic Harvester feeling kept. We don't want to loose that Harvester feeling from back then, but the new Lore also has to fit into the current AI Lore.
I have a question. I was too 'young' to see old harvesters back in days, but wiki that time gave me an idea about them. If Harvesters and AI are different in particular - what is the main general lore which serves as a background for both cases?
Harvesters were around in 2008, when I started to play in the Omicrons. Needless to say, there is a reason they are not around anymore, mainly due to their RP being very similar to the Phantoms, who, as you already know, are also not around due to reasons.
The only way I can see the AI faction to be remade into something plausible is if everyone involved in the project stepped back altogether and let someone else do it.

For the sake of constructive feedback, start off with renaming the NPC faction as "Synthetics" or "Mechanicals" or "Automations", so that it covers everything from AI to VI to simple unintelligent artificial entities and is more open to people looking to play such characters.
Protip two, nomad factions and groups are not popular due to the struggle of RP communication between the nomad and whoever they are interacting with. In other words, drop the pretentious bullshait [->>AI ROLEPLAY<<-]

Don't get me wrong Spazzy, but your first comment seems to be rather random. In case you want to give constructive feedback get informed about the present content.
Of course such thing like changing the IFF is already top on the to-do list.
Beside that, I have written the AI lore perspectively open to any previous appearances which are by far interpretable.
I was simply stating that you should not even involve Harvesters into AI roleplay. They are still regarded as a failed project.

I won't see a problem in case they choose (as not being involved into this) the way that is directed from my story. The main problem of harvesters was that their lore had contradicted the freelancer/disco canon.
The main problem is that you are making an NPC faction around a group.
I would suggest you make an NPC faction which can be done in multiple ways like I already suggested- pooling all of the possible non-human tech-related creations under one flag first and THEN create your own faction within it.
Do the AI thing, but give other players a chance to create their own RP using the NPC Faction's ID.
Know what I mean?

I doubt that anyone really remembers that 'old Harvester feeling' in a positive way, the faction didnt really have a lot of friends back then and I doubt that this has changed a lot. Bringing a faction back thats dead for roughly 5 years, might not be the best idea. Though if you want to do it, try to get into contact with previous Harvester people or even better the people that wrote the lore in the first place, otherwise its ikely that you are going to miss(-interpret) quite a bit of the lore.

That is exactly what I have done. There are significant points mentioned in our story that allow indies to be "free" in their RP and definition. The only thing that is predefined is their real origin.
