Returning from the raid, the crew seem rather elated.
Noticing Wesley slumped at one of the tables as usual, Lorette wanders over and unceremoniously pokes him. "Hah, you missed all the fun. One Synth convoy hijacked, several Hunters downed...even Udo got a kill! Maybe some of your abilities are wearing off on us..."
She waved towards the bartender, "Hey, let's get us some drinks over here, I think we have some celebration to do, ja?"
Eva walked into the biergarten and joined the others in the celebration. "How about that, Synth Foods!?" she asked aloud before laughing.
Looking around, she noticed both Helmut and Wesley sitting there. She called out to them, "You both missed the excitement! I hope everything is all right. It was a Synth Foods convoy after all. Not everyday we get to capture one of those."
"And Wenzel!" she said. "It's all because of your great bartending that we were able to succeed." She proceeded to walk over and give him a hug while ordering a round of drinks for the assembled LWB members.
Udo walked in behind Eva, quite cheerful at the victory that was had.
"Ja... we won! Und I did not get exploded at all! Und I actually killed somethink! I really am a good pilot, Ja?"
Several of the other LWB members frowned at Udo.
"Well... anyway, I could go for a bier after that. Herr Wenzel, ist there any?"
Wenzel opened up a trapdoor in the wall, exposing a cooler containing various drinks, and began passing out bottles to the LWB members. "A round of the finest Lauger for all! To victory, or somesuch. Though, please do not let Udo have too much."
Udo took his bottle and took a large gulp... quickly suffering a brain-freeze. "Ach!"
As this happened, Udo noticed his headache was talking to him...
This happened to agree with Udo's previous train of thought, and he quickly embraced Eva, passionately.
"Ja... ist is all thanks to you, Eva! Mmm... you smell nice..." Udo said as he embraced Eva tightly.
"Ha! Ja!" Helmut is pretty ecstatic, grabbing a beer out of Wenzel's hands and finishing it immediately.
"This is excellent news. I feared you would all be at the krankenhaus for months, but instead you are heroes!"
Helmut buys everyone another round and sits down at the bar again, after drunkenly high-fiving and hugging everyone. "So, what was in that convoy? Do we have it?"
After the party celebrating their victory was over, the Biergarten was quiet again. On one of those quiet days Eva walked back in and took a seat at the bar. Karl was there cleaning dishes while it seemed Wenzel had a day off. He noticed a frown on her face.
"What's the matter?" Karl asked.
"Have you seen Udo?" Eva asked. "He hasn't been bugging anyone lately. I fear the worst."
Karl shook his head. He said, "I haven't, but perhaps someone else here has. In any case, I'll get you the usual, ja?"
Lorette wonders in, seemingly lost in thought, she almost trips over Karl as he moves around the biergarten, clearing up the empties. Meandering over to where Eva is sat, she pulls up a chair and sits in silence for a while, staring into space, before her attention snaps back to Eva.
"Something is missing, something...I feel a sense of calm about the place...have you noticed anything odd, Frau Morgenrot? Or is it just me?..."
Waving Karl over, she carefully takes one of the glasses from his tray, reaches into a side pocket, pulls out a bottle of light-brownish liquid and begins filling the glass.
Lorette paused with he glass half raised. "Udo alright? He barely survives while he's on the station...how he can manage to fly around Rheinland beats me. I guess he'll muddle through in his usual fashion..."
Raising the glass, she downs it's contents in one, returns it to the table and leans back in her chair. "I don't know if I miss him or am glad for the peace and quiet, odd really..." she tails off, staring into the middle distance again.
"It is nice to have some quiet," Karl said from behind the bar, "between him babbling about the Wild or the alarm going off telling us his ship was destroyed, it's hard to get some relaxation."
He paused and looked out the window toward the vast yellowy-orangeyness of the Ostnebel. A minute later he shook his head and continued cleaning the bar before remembering Eva's drink and delivering it to her.
He continued, "Of course, he's a nice guy, so I'd hate to see him captured or anything. He brings some excitement to the Biergarten. I just wish he'd sleep in his quarters again..."
Eva chuckled and nodded as she accepted the drink from Karl. She took a sip and joined in watching the swirling Ostnebel.
A Clydesdale set down in the docking bay. A strange sight, for sure, but as it had the proper clearance codes, it was allowed to land. The man who emerged asked for directions and made his way to the Biergarten.
Walking towards Wenzel, the bartender, he asked, 'Have you seen Mr Ackermann around? I brought him something."
He held up a small box and said, "I'm Dan McKay, by the way.'
