I was thinking of making an unofficial faction but the problem is I have no idea what I need or how to do it. I looked around the forum and couldn't find a thread explaining it either. (If it doesn't exist, it could be useful. If it does exist, I'm blind)
Could someone let me know all the things required to make an unofficial faction pls?
You can use this thread as a guideline, then compare your writeup with existing factions info pages.

Naturally you'll want a solid idea and faction to roll with. There's plenty lacking an official faction or even unofficial one which can be found here.
A good way to start is examine what the faction's lore is and what you can do on the ID. Is it of interest to you? Will it interest others? Does it give you the opportunity for good roleplay and fights? If you answered yes, then you take the next step.
Writing the lore.
This is probably the biggest portion of paperwork you'll need to do. How was your faction formed? What are their reasons for existing? Where do their resources come from? What's their history? All good examples you can work with, or examine other factions for an idea on how to format your lore.
Next up? Goals and Info.
So here you'll include what ID/IFF/Tag the faction uses. What their primary and secondary tech would be, and what their goals are. What is the faction trying to accomplish InRP?
These are the stepping stones to making a faction.

The faction I have in mind is a guard faction of an existing NPC faction, but since guard factions were removed from the wiki page, does that mean I'll have to write up some thumb-sucked story that links up with parts of the non-guard npc faction page?

The main reason I want to make the faction is to promote more RP to the non-guard faction and its official/unofficial subfactions while at the same time getting people to join mine. Is that worth it/possible?
I wish my unofficial faction took off, but I kinda got caught up in the fact that one guy joined it, left, claimed he left Disco, then Nomad'd around, but I still have hope! A little!
