- Any suggestions, Colleagues?- Warren was standing at the global map, when the rest of "Enigma's" crewmen were sitting at the long table and looking at him silently. He atmosphere onboard of this Carrier was quite nervous - everyone were waiting for the concilium. - Doctor Miles? Miss Willberg? Sir Longriver? Professor Sakharof? - each of them were silent, looking in the abyss in front of their eyes. After mintues of silence, one of them decided to introduce his theory to him.- I may have one, doctor Marek. Considering the recent events in Omicrons, along with several familiar surges within the Sirius Sector, I may suggest us to take alook at hyperspace rift anomalies. - He stepped towards the one, who suggested it. It was Samuel Terrek, 35 years old scientist, who always was curious about the nature of Jump Holes and how to manipulate them. Marek was always impressed by his thirst, but in the same time, it was quite risky. - I understand your thrist, doctor Terrek, but such things are way off our allowed reigns. Imagine how many troubles we can make. The governments are getting paranoid everyday, even a research "Bustard" can be suspicious.
He walked around the hologram of "Enigma", a Mobile Exploratory Center. He was looking at it cilently, like he was putting an imaginery part into it. - We can't just walk into the House systems and scout the area within them. However... What if we will get into those systems by an occasional act? Like... The uncoordinated Hyperspace Jump?- Marek's suggestion brought Sakharof's attention. - Theoritecally, we could mount the Jump Drive on this ship, the power core is sufficent enough to power it... But there is a restriction for such equipment. It must be registred in some houses, like Rheinland- - Registry was never a problem, Professor. The problem is a chance of us getting into abandoned systems. That's what we're up to reveal. - He walked towards the radio console. He setted it up, so it could transfer his speech all the way across the "Enigma". - This is Doctor Warren Marek speaking. I bring the decision of concilium to all of you, who work with me and for me onboard of this ship. Our primary target is to reveal the nature of those hyperspace rift anomalies and how to control them. In fact, we will be creating our own hyperspace rift tears with the Jump Drive. If anybody is willing to not work with me, you're to clear the "Enigma" from yourselves in five minutes.- After his speech, the environment onboard the "Enigma" was silent. Nobody was up to leave, as Marek hoped. - Good. Then consider that our work has began.
The meeting room on the "Enigma" was empty, as it always was. However, it's emptyness was recently filled with the group of it's lead scientists, including Warren himself. They use it in cases if they need the concilium, which happens really rare. But considering the recent events, which were happening to the crew of "Enigma", this room has to expect more visits.
As it was today, the group in white robes entered it, waiting for Warren's appearence. They were whispering something to each other, mostly discussing their appearence in isolated systems. However, Sakharof's and Longriver's attention was concentrated on Omicron Psi, Major and Lost. The doors shifted. Six scientists heard Warren's steps and sat on their chairs at the table. The white cape behind him was winding behind him, He was holding a pad with the recorded data of their recent hyperspace experiments. He walked towards the hologram screen and transfered the image from his pad to it.
- Colleagues. - he greated them, switching through the shots on his pad. When he found the one that he was looking for, he showed it on the main monitor behind him.
- I may congratulate us with our first successful hyperspace jump. When most of our attempts led our vessel into the known and explored systems, the last jump was quite... Interesting. We ended up right at the hive of monsters, who terrorize our homes every single day.
He switched to the second shot, which was taken from Omicron Major system.
- This system, however, might be familiar to few of you, especially to you, Sir Longriver. For those, who are unaware, and I hope that I won't find such person onboard of my ship, this is something that we call "Omicron Major". The callsign may be elaborated by the Dyson Sphere, which surrounds a quite big area, maybe including some Nomad Buildings. Considering my own and Sir Longriver's theories, we may assume that this Dyson Sphere fuels the enormous Jump Gate, which in the meantime may be hidden inside of it. - After his words, Sakharof smirked and asked him a question. - How may we assume that? - When he said that, Marek nodded and walked towards the meeting table. He activated the main hologram, which was showing the rising Nomad activity around the Omicron Major system and it's sudden dissappearence. - As may be shown in this small graphic, I was monitoring their activity around this system. I can't assume any other ways rather than a provoked Wormhole. If it was a massive bomb, Edison Trent would be known as a hero of Lone Star posthumously. - His speech made Sakharof's look more sceptic. - Why it should be an object of our interests anyway? - Imagine the possibilities that we may gain with the same Jump Drive. Just a single ship that can jump across the entire Galaxy! - And which requires the same amount of energy, may I add. In your perspectives, what can accumulate the energy on the same capacity levels as the stars? - Who said that we need to jump on the long distances? It would be sufficent for us to find the element which would fuel the Jump Drive of "Enigma" on infinite levels, then our deprivation on refilling will vanish and the only thing we will be deprived to is just food and water. - And how do you think we may invent a such source of energy? - The Nomad Power Cell. - Suddenly, their dispute was stopped by Terrek's voice. Warren turned to him with an obvious wish to hear out his suggestion. - I'm listening, Doctor Terrek. - Nomad Power Cells. They can accumulate the power which is way off the limits of our understanding. - That's an interesting idea... But it's rather impossible. However, if we will be lucky enough to receive one of those, we might as well do something with it. - What about the ones that Ingenuuses work on? - Willberg's voice wasn't as sudden as Terrek's, but Marek was confused by her suggestion. - Their power cells are marelly the cores. We need the components that we can augment into those to power the Jump Drive. All in all, I may consider that idea too. But for now, I ask you all to leave. Our concilium is to be continued furthermore. You're dismissed. For now.
After his words, the company of six scientists risen up and walked away from the room, leaving Warren alone with his own thought. He was actually thinking about his own family and Bretonia. He haven't been there in years, giving his whole life to researching. Maybe it was a coincidence, but right in the middle of his thoughts, he received a message on his personal terminal. It was adressed to every single Zoner in Sirius Sector. When he stopped to read it, he was somehow touched by it's context. He remembered that every single crew member of "Enigma" is a Zoner and they may have same situations as he does. He went to the inner radio communicator and adressed to everyone onboard of the Mobile Exploratory Centre.
- This is Doctor Warren Marek speaking. I'm sure that most of us received a message from a person called Adrian Solar. All I can say is... If you have something familiar to pay respects, you're free to do so on this route. Every single member of the "Enigma" will be dissmissed on First of First in Eight-Twenty Four. Visit your origins, pay respects to your ancestors... Or do whatever you want. Marek out. - he stepped away from the console and walked to his private room, leaving a tab with data on the table in the meeting room.
