Here you can give me character feedback on my Prime, independent civ and Auxesian Gammu hybrid character, including quality-of-interaction material around said character. This is not a completed list of materials since that'd hit the character count, just material that will be relevant for Present-and-future RP development, more likely than not.
Could you give me a short sum-up of what was wrong with Nesrin during the New London fight today? Atar was first in our group and then suddenly started fighting the nomads and everyone was surprised because Atar is green with all of us. In the heat of the battle, nobody really knew what was happening right now, especially when you died by your own mine.
Quote:IFF, ID and Tech modifications to existing ships to bring the character’s forum side RP in game.
Unknown IFF all ships (ideally). They're not completely Gammuian, nor are they completely human, which is meant to throw sensor detection. Nomad Infected receive similar treatment.
I think it's supposed to simulate the fact that they're an unregistered comm/IFF/ship designation because of the hybridisation (concerning the IFF now not the ingame actions.)
Let Tanith please explain himself. I know the SRP thread and the limitations of the IFF, but that doesn't explain asking for invites in a nomad group, the use of nomad speech, "emergency docking" on Canterbury and on-spot switching sides, followed by selfmining. Like, a ship like that should definitely be green with nomads and wild.
I did ask for an invite. The character's human consciousness is meant to be -very- vulnerable to Nomad suggestion (after all, there were large mindnodes present on scene), so I wanted to play their role. I was originally going to side with the BAF, then the Nomads because I thought the Nomads were losing, then I realised the Nomads were snub ganking like it was no tomorrow and switched. I wasn't in voice chat and was away from the fight zone for a long period of time, so that's why my situational awareness wasn't great. I'd also been blown to dust by Nomad NPCs slightly before engaging for either side and had to TWICE fly back from the Omicrons, so my docking on that outpost was totally understandable given the circumstances (I didn't combat dock either).
She has an unknown IFF because there's no other IFF which describes what she is - something which doesn't fit within conventional neuralnet designations. This is usually good for RP and gameplay - people are wary of her, Nomads are more relaxed - befitting the roleplay that she's susceptible to what Nomads tell her to do. On an individual personality level, however, she's opposed to the nomads - she just doesn't have monolithic control 100% of the time.
I did substantial roleplay to show the character as conflicted and in turmoil as to what they should be doing. Remember, they're not infected, they're just very vulnerable to Nomad telepathy due to all kinds of shenanigans that have happened in the past as a result of interactions with other players. Nomads can talk -through- her through said means, per RP with Commune, if they so choose, but I only ever explore that if there's people around who I think could use that to their own RP development. In the end it boiled down to: Bretonian Character, Nomads in New London, and I RP'd that transition.
I also didn't shoot any nomads whilst grouped with nomads, or any BAF whilst grouped with BAF. I basically left both groups and did what the character would do in that situation. I was always going to have gone in to support the side which was getting annihilated - that's what I did.
As for dying by my own mine, I meant to hit countermeasures and hit the key next to it by accident as CDs were flying around.
She's meant to be a quirky not-quite-this-not-quite-that hyper-conflicted character who aspires to be a perfectly normal human again, a sort of Sirian Pinocchio, going through a succession of mad stories to reach normality again, and I apologise if that created confusion rather than fun. However, considering I didn't get any kills and only succeeded in draining a few snubs, in a snub battle that Wilde won anyway, isn't this a bit much to take me to task over?
Remember, just because I'm green to Nomads, Nomads are still red to me. My IFF is set by admin commands but my actual rep sheet still works dynamically just as any other rep chart would. Per the ID, she can only work with nomads and infected if Nomads and infected engage in telepathy with her.

I've always acted like it's just stuff the mindshare is bouncing off her, never something that she herself is saying. I used an encounter with Commune as inspiration.
The whole idea is that she's something that otherly and often contrasting groups manipulate for their own objectives. None of this is new by the way, I've always RP'd Nesrin as vulnerable to Nomad suggestion. Not everyone can just deal with nomads screwing with them for ages. Only now do I have the ID to actually act on it.
There were abstract telepaths in vanilla lore, even - that's going far further than anything this character is attempting to do. It's not outside of the realm of this universe.
I am asking because I'm uncertain on how to react on this. Ingame, this was horribly intransparent, and I think the Unknown IFF is the worst thing all about it. There was no warning about it when you asked for the invite, it was just your "Yo, super special snowflake here" and then some rambling that dropped under the table as everyone and their mother was busy fighting. People had no idea what was going on - they just saw a green IFF shooting them, and while you might think your inRP sentences ingame should have indicated it, it was absolutely not visible to any of us. In fact, it looked to the group as if a lolwut somehow got their hands on SpecOps ID and started shooting all over the place.
I do think there is a certain problem with self-induced nomad manipulation, because it pretty much looked like you just wanted to join the nomad raid with your SRP character. While it might be legit to have your character suddenly feel impulses from the nomads that urge it to attack humans, none of our characters - as far as I know - did interact with Nesrin in a way that would indicate it. Nobody questioned it, though, because you were green on scanners and everyone was pretty busy shooting at Bretonians, respawning/reengaging lolwuts and counter-ganking those cruisers.
It also leaves us with the question about the consequences of that incident, because as Spazzy said, Unknown IFF requires 0.9 with Wild. So if we'd request an FR5 now, as you evidentally opened fire on nomads and wild - and we don't want people to be green towards us when they fire at us - it probably would remove the Unknown IFF. The IFF however has to be altered, as you effectively tricked people by being green to us and asking for an invite to the nomad raid group while a few minutes later "emergency" docking with Canterbury (after attacking Bretonians infront of it) in mid-fight, then undocking and start attacking us with "So be it." and "Come on you infected bastards! You'll not drag me with you!"
What do you suggest? Freelancer IFF doesn't work as it doesn't invite the suspicion and hostility from humans that Unknown IFF invites.
The problem with "Unknown" IFF is that some bright spark decided "Unknown" means "Wilde", when it doesn't. "Unknown" means something that can't be verified by neuralnet ID.
You can FR5 if you want to, but it's pointless. I can't dock at nomad bases, and I get shot by nomad and Wilde NPCs anyway. It would force me to close down a project I've spent years on, and would demotivate me enough to get me to leave. Unioners would be happy over that one.
I've spent years developing this character. Years and bloody years. Long enough to SRP 10 Zoner Makos. I'm not going to be happy if one dissatisfactory encounter screws with this and makes the character no longer interesting for me. There's no point to Nesrin if she can just seamlessly work with other humans without anybody having suspicions or taking her to task.
I refuse to have my work retconned because a bunch of wilde guys were too busy fighting to read what I typed in a spawned event in New London. Nor did my engagement change the consequence of the fight.
Jog on. You can't change the terms of somebody else's SRP because you don't like it.
