I read that over several times and it seems to me like a reasonable statement, considering that Disco snubfights usually are decided after the first three-four blues.

Tbh that event was only cap-focused and incredibly boring. The most fun I've actually had with snubfights was during small, regulated events with measures preventing one group of getting too ahead (like this one since we're bringing up old events, apparently).
Also Royal Flush was an admin-driven and storyline event.

Yes because you're dealing with corsair indie playerbase, which is arguably worse than in Liberty (although this seemed to become a bit better in recent months, mostly because most of it stopped playing the game).

In pvp there's a "winning" side and a "losing" side. In a competition, theres a losing side and a winning side. I dont understand how getting a 1v1 makes you feel any better about losing.

Caps back then were fun, if it was so boring, why did it attract so many players? We've had non storyline events back in 4.87 Delta that attract just as much if not more players than there were at Royal Flush. None of them were regulated beyond the server rules.

Bad playerbase or not, it still happens to me on a daily basis.

B, The whole concept of fair fights is just a stupid double standard for people who can't live with getting killed, or wan't everything out of conn to be clean in their favor. In the middle of a giant fight with 30 people on either side like say this are you seriously going to pull someone aside and say "hey I want a 1v1 give me or you're an unfair group of *****"??????? Then comes the whole logic of, "well at the end of the fight its nice to give the last target a 1v1 because you shouldn't mind missing out on one blue". Read that over again, and tell me how dumb that sounds. "Lets give the guy that was targeted last a chance because... why not?" Really? In pvp there's a "winning" side and a "losing" side, if you cant get over the fact that you lost and are being the last one killed, than you probably need to grow up a bit. If it were me at the end, or some other veteran pvper or someone that the opposing group disliked, do you think they'd give that person (me) a 1v1? I can give you a hint, the answer rhymes with "go".
The logic behind wanting fair fights in every case or at the end of a fight is completely stupid, "Wawawawaaawwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I WANT MY FAIR FIGHT" Grow up, when I fly into liberty as a xeno I have carriers shooting me left and right, when I fly in Omega-5 I have to deal with stuff like this no one ever gave me a fair fight at the end of a group battle. No one ever asked me for a 1v1 while I was flying RHA in Dresden and Omega-5, I didn't whine about it, I just got better and killed them.
Fights are far more intriguing, adrenaline rushing, and exciting when neither side holds back. All the events that people genuinely enjoy like Royal Flush, had no "fair fight" garbage latched onto them, fun fights are possible, but people advocating for this sort of "fair fight for me" double standard is what's preventing it from happening.
No hard feelings to you Benji, but to everyone who advocates for this sort of thing, it's not going to happen, grow up and actually try GETTING BETTER rather than whining.
Nobody says you should force fair fights, silly. Just that you don't join an already existing gank since there's no reason to other than the small chance of getting the blue message, which I guess feeds some people's egos. The intentional overexaggeration with the 1v1 example doesn't make any sense to me. Flat out demanding fair fights is stupid, but if there's an opportunity for a fight to be fair or to not be fair, why not at least try and make it fair. That doesn't mean asking for duels in a 30 man groupfight, but for example if you see the enemy side side losing ships drastically, consider pulling people out on your end. Small things like that would make fights much healthier overall.
That's another problem - It's very hard to get an actually balanced fight in a Discovery PvP in terms of numbers, skill and luck because of the snowball effect. As soon as one side gets a small lead, they can usually turn it into a greater one and one side steamrolls the other pretty fast. Only rarely do you see for example a 10v10 snubfight ending in a 2v0, and more often you see something like an 8v0.

I don't know why you're bringing up posts from ages ago, obviously I've had a change of heart since my days of being ganked repeatedly in Coronado and Magellan as seen there.
The "overexaggeration" with the 1v1s isn't an overexaggeration at all. What do you think people are pushing for in this thread? What do you think people want at the end of a snub brawl, what do lone raiding battleships complain about? It's stupid, yes, I agree that if you run into a lone snub during a raid, giving it a 1v1 then isn't all harmful. Yes, I think that throwing equally skilled players on each side makes fights more challenging and fun. Do I think that the final survivor should be allowed a 1v1? Or a person in the middle of the fight? No, that's stupid.
The only time I'd consider giving someone at the end of a group fight a 1v1 is if I've been pulling people out of the fight as enemies die the entire time. If they're the last enemy, I might, MIGHT let them have a 1v1. If they lose, fine. If they win, I sic everyone else on them. You don't get to win a group fight that you lost by winning a duel at the end.
I remember when we were in Leeds with 9 of us being mostly caps and one was a bretonian intelligence ship. A mate logged on and wanted to fight us one on one t be fair. One guy in our group who was a liberty carrier decided to be a massive jerk and jump in without roleplay, disregarding our agreement in group to make it one at a time so it's fair for him, in the end karma struck laughabally at him and he got killed first despite having a battle cruiser and a cruiser fight him as well. After that point I just gave up on trying because there is just some things not worth wasting oxygen on
The actual issue with fair fight is the fact that the so-called "pvpwhores" usually team up at one side and then massacre the weaker players. Been there, experienced that. Getting good in PVP isn't matter of hours, days or even weeks. It is long months of dedication... many of which prefer to spend on doing RP, due to limited amount of time.
I've spent half year trying to be good in snub combat. I only learnt how not to die as fast as I used to.
