I'm on my phone, but as the exiled 1ic of the commercial hyperspace faction, I am aware of this, so expect a wall of text soon-ish.
For a filler, I propose a drinking game where you take a sip every time someone says "interaction" in this thread.
Edit: Enjoy.
Okay, here's the way it is. Jumptrading back in the olden days was awesome. It had a nice 4-system range requiring thought to where one would go. It beat slogging it regularly, but one CD would stop it, and possibly zero its progress. Jumptrading now is better suited to wowing newbies than serious profit over time, because nothing says "awesome" like teleporting all the way across Sirius in a fraction of the time. The animation looks pretty cool too.
You also have to factor in in-RP laws. A lot of places have laws that say "Jump Drives are not cool," citing security concerns. That means diplomacy must be done, which requires, gasp, RP. Not to mention the acquisition of the Drives/Modules themselves, which requires further forumlancing.
And to all you people saying that Jumptrading kills interaction, it is hilariously easy to catch a convoy. All you have to do is camp the mining field like you would be doing anyway considering how often I've had to shoot down various pirates who've trickled in whilst I was mining.. If you camp a Gate/Lane, that's not my problem and it only shows how complacent the people complaining about it have become.
