Hello, Lord Commander.
I realize it's been some time since we've last had a talk. I hope you're doing well, all things considered, and given the past I've had with the Legion, and your sparing Commander Faraday and the Mississinewa quite a while ago, the Admiral is hoping that we can strike a deal of sorts.
As you know, the Gallic threat still looms on out there, that damned battleship preventing us from reclaiming control of Magellan. I'm more than aware of the Legion's mission, as is the rest of the Navy, and I know that situations like the Mississinewa won't be a constantly recurring theme, especially when the opportunities are still there. The question here is whether the Legion is willing to overlook a smaller fleet in exchange for the bigger picture.
What I'm proposing here is simply a formal Non-Agression Pact. As per instruction by Admiral Ferguson after your encounter with Faraday, the Legion's been off our target list, and I'm fairly certain Bradley's even had some contact between one of your secondary captains, if the Omaha's comm records are to be believed. I and the rest of the Fleet would be much more relaxed and capable if we could knock the Legion off our list of things to worry about. I don't expect absolutely everything to be perfect with this pact, rookies and obvious deviants aside, but I'm hoping we can at least focus mutually on the overall threat to our home instead of mindlessly aiding the Royalists with their mission.
Naturally, this would only extend to the Third Fleet, and vice-versa to the Legion's main detachment, though any of your secondary captains who deem to follow this are more than welcome to. In cases where both we and the other fleets are present, we'll opt to return to our duties most likely. Besides, if there's one thing the primary fleets love to do, it's stroke a ego.
Hopefully this at least piques your interest. As I have prior experience, meaning that one instance, with dealing with you and your people, Lord Commander, I can at least attest to the fact that you're not a band of roaming raiders with access to heavy warships.
Fly well.
Regards,
Vice Admiral Michelle Collins
