So after some playing I see that Leeds is now Gallic space. There is an atmospheric entry point that allows you to dock with a Bretonian rebel base. I like the idea of roleplaying as a rebel but not sure if already a group of people doing that to talk to or even how to really get started with that.
The best factions to get into touch with for that would the Bretonian Armed Forces, or the Secret Intelligence Service player factions. They are the main players in resisting the Gallic Invasion, being the military and intelligence branches of Bretonia. As far as I know, both factions are accepting new recruits, or you can fly as an indie, but either way, I'm sure both factions would be happy to help you learn the ropes of resisting the Gauls.
You can also join the BAF| discord server [x] for talking with other Bretonian players, as well as getting emergency calls for fights/activities and organising for events.

If you go with Bretonian Privateers then get the Churchill Gunboat. It is excellent against multiple fighters of both Gallic Pliers (very heavy fighters) and Pirates that you will also run across. It will hold a CAUVll and leave you about 149 units of cargo space. I have on mine 5 Bretonian turrets, 1 Silencer Missile, 1 Gunboat Razor and of course the Forward Gun as well as a CAUVll, Cheetah Thruster and Cloak Disruptor 1. The last 3 will take serious creds and even without them the Bret gunboat is effective. 3 pros and 1 con for Privateer ID.
BAF ID Doesn't allow for ALL the Omegas and Gallic border worlds , but the Privateer ID does.
The down side is that the Bounty Hunters consider Privateers as Enemy combatants due to being "Legal" pirates I believe.
It is an excellent way to get Cat and Mouse experience with enemy combatants when enemy has to deal with the ZOI (Zone of Influence) reach Bretonian Privateers have over the BAF.
Pirates and Freelancers smuggle supplies across Bretonian Space to aid Gallia's war effort for profit and it is Privateers that fill the gap the BAF are not able to cover to stop vital shipments to Gallia. The best combo for this is 1 Gunboat, 1-2 fighters and a good combat capable freighter or transport. However 1 Gunboat can do well going it alone. (Just don't go after Destroyers,Battle Cruisers and Battle Ships without serious BAF support. It doesn't turn out well at all.)
If you choose Privateer ID then be sure to read The Kingdom of Bretonia in House Role Play Laws. Sections 1-4 will give you the info you need for Privateer RP. It is best to print out Sections 1-4 that would pertain to Privateer ID enforcement of Bretonian Law, contraban, border embargo and enemy combatants and ships so you can quickly RP your reason and demands on them.
Also check your ID discription for who you can be allied with and you will find some on the list that BAF can not be allied with. I have chased pirates and smugglers all over Bretonia and found it rewarding in thwarting their routes. Also learn Turret Steering for when you encounter more agile enemy Gunboats. You have 5 repeat fire turrets and most gunboats have 4 that i've seen, plus the Bret Gunboat base armor is greater than the Pirate Gunboats I've run across.
