This topic has come up before but was never really properly looked at.
The Jintsuriki is useless. Sure, it has a nice 16k detection range, but its cost and scan range relegate it to the waste-of-time division. Solution: give it the same stats as the minified spyglass. I thought about it keeping its 16k detection and giving it 4-5k scan as an outright buff that still keeps a little different to the spyglass, but I reckon occam's razor wins out on this one. Plus, the BS scanner is at 18k and it having 20% on the next highest scanners is cool and good.
This gives the people a cool new toy, which yes already exists in the spyglass, but the jintsuriki can be fluffed out as a "legal" alternative, as even though nobody ever says or does anything about it (because it'd be pointless) the spyglass fluff is that it's Lane Hacker tech. It at least makes an interesting but useless item useful and, helpfully, it's sold on New Haven.
Yah, please. Totes agree with Mep. Only one thing: dunno about 4000-5000 of scan range, rly. It would be very nice, but... Make it at least 3500, please. It would be enough to justify such a price even a little, eh. Do it.
You don't have to buy it.
Its a money sink item that has only a slight benefit to the range, and if people want to spend that extra money for 1k extra range, that is their choise.
The stats are fine as it is. You pay 250mil for 1k extra detection range detection advantage. Some people think it is worth it, others do not. The same goes for sci data stuff.
This thread is not about whether you are forced to buy it, it's about there being a point to buying it, and such comments do not constructively add to this discussion. For example, you aren't forced to buy cap8 armour either, but people do, because there is a tangible benefit.
The stats are obviously not fine, as evidence by a combination of common sense and the fact the jintsuriki is almost never used, and so this is about making a useless piece of equipment useful. A money sink that nobody buys, because it's pointless, is no money sink at all.
An expensive piece of equipment that gives you a bit of a bonus without offending balance, on the other hand, is a money sink. For example, the minified spyglass scanner. The jintsuriki might as well not even be in the game in its current state, so giving it the minified spyglass stats is surely a constructive change that adds effectively unused content to the game as a money sink.
But there is a tangiable benefit. You will see the enemy before they see you. That is a major strategic advantage.
I got a Jin scanner on one of my ships and it has proven very useful when trying to locate someone.
Why would you give it minified spyglass stats? Both give a boost in completely seperate areas. MSG on cargo scans, Jin on scanner range.
