A growing group of dissatisfied Corsairs from various corners of the Empire, looking to draw meaning and inspiration from a bygone era, willing to shift away from the status quo that seems to have failed in bringing meaningful change so far. The self-titled Romans seek a cultural and spiritual rebirth.
Background
The Corsair Empire's continued failures to solve the food crisis, the fact that the Empire has been beset by enemies from all sides and the barbarism of the coming of age ritual all Corsairs must undertake have stirred Salazar Caesar and his followers into utter hatred for both the current system of Elders and the Corsair lifestyle of piracy and artifact smuggling.
Seeking to change the way the Corsairs live, think and feel was a matter of giving them a symbol to believe in, a new set of ideals to aspire to. After long talks and much deliberation Ancient Rome seemed like a very fitting analogue for the struggling people. A set of new laws, ideals and guidelines was drafted and put into effect immediately for all Romans, aspiring or otherwise. Once domestic policy was finalized, the Romans have began to turn their attention to the outside, fully intent on reaching diplomatic overtures and spreading their ideals, as well as exploring the unknown reaches of space.
