OK my bad, lesson learnt. However, I would very much appreciate some guidance here because I am somewhat confused. I am very new here and I have made a few mistakes, but I am trying to get it right. I thought that before a player attacked another player they had to make demands for either goods or cash. But this is not how I have experienced some encounters.
I had only been on the server for an hour when I was told I was scum and had to die. No request for cargo, as I did not have any, nor a request for cash, just a statement to this effect. I was then duly dispatched, having absolutely no chance of defending myself with the starter ship. I asked then and have asked subsequently, why I am being killed in this way, but my attacker never gives an answer. I have screen shots asking the questions and showing I get no reply. I am trying to learn the role-play but these characters just seem interested in killing and not explaining why. So when this character says he is going to kill me, do I then have to make a statement that I will defend myself? I have the screen shot of the encounter, for which I am being sanctioned, and you will be able to see that I and/or another player were about to be attacked.
I quote:- “There you are, thieving scum. Never learn, never change. Time to die. Locking on target.”
It is virtually the same statement each time he has killed me and it has been quite a few.
So what should I have done? Ask for clarification, wait until he fires or issue a counter statement? From past experiences it has been instant death no time for niceties. So in this instance I just opened fire. I apologise if I have acted in appropriately, but I did not know that I had to say I was going to defend myself if I was attacked. I wrongly assumed that it was obvious, having been killed so many times, when I was in a defenceless ship.
This part of the role-play scene seems somewhat bizarre to me. As traders, in transports, are always going to loose their cargo and die for what is appears to be no apparent reason. Surely this action amounts to an unreasonable demand, because basically you are taking all the cargo. So the rule regarding reasonable demands must be being violated.
Your comments and guidance would be appreciated.
