I'd like clarification on if Mining Lasers are considered weapons.
I'd define a weapon as an offensive tool that deals damage, of which the mining lasers do fit the description. Albeit they are extremely weak.
Though since they are only used for mining and for no other purpose in the game, that would be reason enough to not consider them weapons.
I'm just wanting to poll the community and admins here for what they'd classify them as.
By game mechanics? They're guns.
InRP? They're tools with too little yield to be used for combat.
Rulewise? There are no rules around non-pulse and non-codename weapons, so a moot point?

Yes, this is why.
In case I want to move ahead with an idea much further down the line, I'm wanting to know if "no weapons" in the general sense would include the mining lasers.
I feel a bit silly asking this of the community if the answer ends up being that I can set the boundary of this policy for my faction.
Basically most, if not all, things can be used as a weapon.
A pencil can be used to kill someone but you will never be 'done' for carrying an offensive weapon whilst carrying one.

I think it's reasonable in-universe that a pacifist group can use mining lasers and be considered to be remaining within their no weapons policy while doing so.

I guess this is what I was looking for. Thanks for the replies, everyone.
