God, can we seriously reduce the minimum radius for both planets and stations? Trying to place this in a place where it looks nice is hard and 2.5k is a lot when planets have different sizes. I can get the minimum distance on gates and mining fields since you can basically escape or lock down an entry, that's fair.
But why is it so damn high with stations and misc solars (if I'm understanding this, it might include the large asteroids in nebula since they're solars too) when you could easily have base minimum it at 3-5k? You can't exactly raise shields anymore to stop someone escaping anyway. You just force having more escape routes covered away from stations.
Idk, I just hate this. I can't get it to look cinematic or reasonably good in place. I think POBs being in vicinity of another isn't bad, or at least 2 of them anyway.
Yeah guys - I'm not sure why you think it will be more pleasing to the eye when we will now have instead of 2 neatly stacked PoBs 2 5 k from each other with the same/extension name.
Or that a base dangling randomly 10 k away from a planet dock point is better than one orbiting it

Mining zones - 25k
Planets and docking stations 3/5kTrade lanes 2k
Jh/jg 10k
Other pobs - 1k
Other 1k
This sound like the best solution for it.
and not to be allowed to stack pobs is a bad idea.
add a few new pob models, like storage tanks or other stuff that NPC stations have around their own station for their stuff, but dockable for players.
With this solution it looks less overcrowded.
Or old Delos in XI is another good example for it.
Or give the second pob a barge design and let the barge "Docking" at the main station.

To put it shortly, it will be impossible to deploy a base too close to certain types of objects. It is done to avoid overcrowding certain areas with POBs as well as 'ruining the scene' as it were.
The minimum distances:
High Tier Mining zones (from the edge of the zone): 30000m
Planets (from the surface): 2500m
Dockable stations: 10000m
Trade Lanes: 2000m
JH/JG: 15000m
Other POBs: 5000m
Other(wrecks, buoys, etc): 2500m
How did the decisions regarding distances come to be made? Was this surveyed with the players at large?

These distances will also be a problem for regular players. When mining gold ore in Dublin, Goldgeist was quite close and it was convenient to sell the gold from two flights, which were short, and then buy it by transport on another form. Likewise Fortitudine, when I was looking for gold ore to buy, the fact that it was close to JH/JG which in Dublin was close to Goldgeist made it easier to play. And a distance of 30,000 is sometimes half of one system.
Feels too radical change. Something like 2500k from the station can be sufficient enough. As for the planets, as long as they are not inside the atmosphere it should be fine, maybe like 1k.
I am not sure I like these changes. 30k from a mining field is moronic. It seems to be driven ideologically rather than pragmatically given the needs of the player base. Consider the low population time where there are fewer than 6-8 in-game. The likes of Goldgeist which operates as a service to all players especially those who can't tee up a mining buddy are indispensable.
Clutter around New London? Really? This sounds more like a hate-purge rather than needed. As it stands many like it, None negatively impacts the flow of ships and it adds an ambiance like the feel of a city rather than an isolated farmhouse.
Albany Police Academy... its a sanctioned Liberty establishment. It should not be the devs that dictate where or what takes place regarding POBs and their placement. It should fall solely on the legal administrators of the systems in an RP setting to decides per the House Roleplay Laws.
Leave the PoBs as is and don't be so legalistic nor mind-numbingly banal in tearing the whole fabric of the game play to date to bits.

Is ridiculous, 25K from Mining zones? why?? No, hell not! ...
For planets and Docking stations, some of the possible reasons i can understand, but inside some "lore-play" of this bases they use the close-up to bases to act as a secondary defense when these bases were not ones to be "allowed" to put a defense module
Just let the HOUSE LAWS to REGULATE the RULES according the POBs ... why Mods or Admins should suffice doing it, and why not make EACH HOUSE in a SERVER with ROLEPLAY 24/7 get involved in fixing their own MESS?
Allow players to move, if House Laws change, but don't try make "Something for the good of the server" allowed, because remember we are playing a RP 24/7 Server, ROLEPLAY, all should be done with RP in mind, and since EACH HOUSE have his own RULES, then LET EACH HOUSE DEAL with THIS PROBLEM
¬¬
Just a pair of server Admins/Devs as petitioners who want to interfere with Laws again without a real reason, to do so ...
