I have an Adv. Train and I can fly straight through Omega-5 without hitting one asteroid, I just have to be actualy flying and not relying on the auto-pilot.
Its got a pretty narrow profile from the front and also is hard to CD since the engines are at the front. Also, biggest cargo and I find it n pain to fly, as long as I don't overshoot the tradelanes.
@ global: You must have misread his intentions. Dieter wants to upgrade in the manner of more holdsize i guess. Nevertheless the Firefly is one of the best transports.
So far the only real trading vessels I've tried are the Spatial, Container Transport, and Luxury Liner.
My trader got the CT back when it had the second largest hold, and was much more heavily armed than the train. My next project is upgrading to the train as navigating through the asteroid fields is always a pain. It's probably psychological, but I don't like the diameter of the Container Transport.
As for the Luxury Liner, definently not made for "off roading". It's hard enough lining it up properly for trade lanes, navigating asteroid fields is a practical demonstration of gas laws from chemistry.:P
