I wasn't aware that it was possible to take peoples ships from them, and if it was I also didn't realise pirates were allowed to fly BS's..
Anyway what I can now see happening is there are becoming more pirates in the game than anything else, as sad as it is this is going to led to one or 2 things.
a). people will just get sick of having to pay or being killed all the time and move onto other games
b). everyone will become a pirate of one sort or another and a lot of the interaction within the community will suffer.
c). life will just go on, on the server and all will be happy,

The admins can change people's ships around. and generic Pirate IDs cannot fly anything larger then a GB. other pirate IDs cannot use their bigger ships to pirate in.

Honestly, if people would diversify their routes they would get pirated a lot less. I run a "ring" around Sirius and avoid the systems in Diamond->Niobium except for NB. I don't remember when the last time someone successfully pirated me was, over a month ago. The last person to try was 2 weeks ago. And there are not more pirates...sit in NB during a busy time and watch the sheer volume of traders (most with no RP to boot) coming and going. Heh, I was in my lawful guy and I asked him to stop for a scan and he F1ed, carrying NIOBIUM!!! I wanted to send the video to an admin because if he does it to my lawful I'm sure he did it to a pirate, but ... yeah.

Or they could go find other routes...:P

As long as there are capships there will be traders to support them.

Not so sure about the happy part, because somedays playing a game is more stressfull then RL. :$ Which shouldn't happen EVER. but meh, when that happend I pull up Rome Total War and annialate barbarian NPCs.:P
Edit: Maybe I shouldn't do this, last time I did a post of this length it kinda killed this thread...hmmm. POST people!!
Hmm well really if you want to explain something and it is set out correctly sometimes it ends up looking like it is long but really your post isn't that bad & it sort of ansers and debates what I said very well.
I think that sometimes people will say posts kill threads beause they know the person that has made the post is right with what they have mentioned in their post.
Anyway just back to the topic, I play another space based PVP game and have noticed in that game that the pirates out number the other players by quite a lot in some parts of the universe, unfortunately this has ended up with a lot of players just flat out staying away from the systems the pirates tend to do their work in and now they are starting to scratch their heads wondering why people don't go to those systems that much any more.
now I don't think the same could happen here as most systems on this game you have to go through if you want to do business.
I was reading some very interesting things about FL and some of the servers last night and was sad to see that 88% of the posts had nothing good to say about the game or the servers, this is not good for the game or the servers especially when the game isn't a new game in any way and it isn't going to help with getting new players to come and try the server out.
Not to worry though people are allowed to have their own opinions.
