It's a shame. Disco USA was a good server, regardless of any differences anyone had with them. Hopefully the players there will carry on playing and enjoying the game on some other server.

Not like I ever did that much with it anyway, it was mostly someplace I hung out when GC was down or I didn't feel like messing with the lolwuts here...
If you have that much invested in DUSA you might be interested to know that we have the files from the DUSA server over on Discovery Redemption. We are allowing ship imports from DUSA as most of us are from that server, so you won't even lose whatever CODENAME weapons might have been in your cargo hold.
We're not quite ready to open to the public yet, we're still hammering out server rules and such, but we're getting very close. Redemption is hosted in the USA as well. If ping is what attracted you to DUSA then you should like Redemption too.
@Adam Smith: No, I am not aware of any players planning to migrate back to the GC server. Most of us have too much time in our RP stories to bother trying to start over from scratch here.
As a long-time DUSA player and former staff there, this bums me out, I'll always have a place in my heart for DUSA.
This was the ONLY server where RP > PvP - always.
It was a great place to go and just roleplay. The depth of so many of the player's characters there really puts to shame much of what goes on here.
It was a living, breathing world where PvP was extremely rare, and all the the actors played thier hearts out on the Disco stage.
Farewell DUSA! Sage, of all the things I can say to you, the only one of any import is THANKS!

*sighs*
As IMG i can remember all the great roleplay by all the mute miners who did not wanna pay up that 500k fee - even after a 5 times warning.
But started afterwards a drama on the forums - hmm, that reminds me of something...
Ah, sorry - memories. But good ones afterall.
The more posts you got the more fun you have - positively seen.
DUSA got a high level of social competence - not only by the staff but also by the player base.
I'm really sad to see them go.
' Wrote:In general good thing- more players for the main server. I cannot understand why there are others with the same mod anyway.
Some, a lot in the USA, get very high pings with the main server. Some other servers may have more favorable (for some players) rules. Then, as someone said, some servers disable some of the hook commands and/or tweak some of them. Freelancer and Freelancer Discovery is many things to many people. I'm just glad that GC releases the hook files with their mod distribution making other servers with possibly different rules and hook tweakings possible.
