Is it just me, or is the server incredibly unstable for those outside of Europe?
The ping, though, is okay (~300-350), however, it seems that the server at times is unable to pick up any outgoing packets (I can still receive packets just fine fine [e.g. in-game chatter]) and subsequently disconnects me after about 10 seconds. What's really annoying though, is not the fact that I can reconnect instantly, is the darn "The account is still in use on this server" error message which prevents me from logging back in for several minutes.
I am based in Sydney, Australia. Connecting from a US-based VPS ails the same results. No other online/UDP based games have this problem.
Anybody else having similar problems, and/or know of any workarounds/solutions?
EDIT: Oh, what's also annoying, is that Freelancer crashes after the n'th (~5, or so?) reconnection.
well.....i had some problems last 3 hours with server during missions in gamma...but i thought it was just me.....
any how....make a new rule in your firewall and add 2302 port as both TCP and UPD....it worked for me for a while....from ping 250....reduced to 160-100...i used to be a lag warrior thou..

Ports are all correctly forwarded on the UDP protocal (as that is what Freelancer uses) from 2300-2400 (as per Microsoft guidelines) on my router, as-well as the local software firewall.
EDIT: Changing to (TCP/)UDP has made no difference

I'm living only ~100km next to the servers location, and I experience said problems, too. Even more often than before .86 ... However, I'd blame our new toys like PoBs, base/ship models (which are going to be fixed in .87), other unbalanced game mechanics, and of course my weak internet connection.

Ever seen the green ingame message when people F1 in space? "NAME is engaging cloaking device." It appears aswell when your connection is going lost. And this takes ~60 seconds until you can log back in.

I have only seen the cloaking device message once, whilst I was docking with Trenton Outpost (after which I did get disconnected), although I just thought it was somebody engaging their cloaking device.
EDIT: Ah, yes, now I see. Whilst this user was disconnecting and reconnecting due to connectivity instability, the "cloaking device" message was constantly played.
