The Omicron Research Group (ORG) was founded on 02.02.824 A.S. by Jacob and Iona Taylor with the support of Captain Alex, who commanded the Osiris Battleship - ‘Horizon’. The ORG used to specialize in cybernetics, AI Technology and in the research of Nomad behavior as well as technology, even though a direct focus had not been set officially. Despite the strict mindset of the Order, the ORG is an open faction, not judging aspirants based on origin or affiliation - though not anyone is just let into the Ranks of the ORG.

Today, the Group has shifted towards a more militarized approach when compared to their previous, largely pacifistic stance. Together with the ORG’s shift in ideology, the group's focus shifted as well, now putting increasingly more resources into weapons research as well as any other projects that could give their forces an edge in combat. While the ORG’s shift was seen as abrupt, as well as initially receiving criticism mainly from personnel of the Research and Diplomacy Wing, most have since started to adapt to these new circumstances.



Departments
The ORG is divided into multiple departments, although most of the time working separated from each other, many ORG Operations require a close cooperation of the so called 'wings' of the ORG.

Research Wing - The Research Wing used to be the very heart of the ORG, as it conducts all the Research and was the very reason the ORG was founded back in 824. To this day, it remains one of the most vital components of the group, steadily working on developing new weapons and equipment for both their space and ground forces. The Research Wing usually operates together closely with the Military Wing, as research vessels are required to have an escort when leaving safe space. The current head of the Research Wing is Director Jacob Taylor, one of the ORG's founders. He supervises all projects, as well as being the figurehead in many of them himself. The Flagship of the Research Wing is the Altair, a Renzu Liner refitted for both Diplomatic and Scientific purposes.

Military Wing - The Military Wing is the Sword and Shield of the ORG, as well as its current leading force. It protects the Group's goals and members while further manifesting the ORG's influence across the systems. Commander Alex is the head of the Wing, he commands its Flagship, an Osiris-Class Battleship designated 'Horizon'. The Military Wing equally works together with both the Research and Diplomatic Wing of the ORG, as it not only protects and enforces, but also supports the Allies of the ORG. After a short internal power struggle, which led to the ORG’s shift in ideology, the Military Wing has seized almost total control over the group. While in the past, the leaders of the different wings used to decide and vote on the ORG’s future together, the commander of the Military Wing is now solely responsible for making these decisions, with the other leaders moved into an advisory position.

Diplomatic Wing - The newly founded Diplomatic Wing is responsible for maintaining relationships with allied organizations, as well as establishing contact and forming alliances with new ones. The Diplomatic Wing is officially represented by Director Taylor, with its members being handpicked from those belonging to the ORG’s other departments. Pilots and crew who have proven exceptional skill when working with other people may receive one of the few invitations to the Diplomatic Wing sent out to this day.


Code of Conduct
Pilots of the Omicron Research Group operate under a very specific Code of Conduct, with only minor differences between the Wings.

1) An ORG Pilot is to protect and secure the ORG’s goals and ideals with the highest priority.

1a) Unless the actions which were to be taken are an unreasonable threat to the pilots' life.
1b) Unless acting on orders given by a superior.

2) ORG Pilots will only attack in self-defense or in assistance of an allied vessel.

2a) Unless the actions taken enforce the first imperative.
2b) Pilots of the Military Wing are allowed, but not required, to engage Vessels belonging to a faction which have been marked as hostile by the ORG Administration.
2c) Pilots of the Research Wing will avoid any engagement unless acting in self-defense.
2d) Pilots of the Diplomatic Wing will avoid any engagement unless acting in self-defense or to protect a diplomatic target.
2e) Unless acting on orders given by a superior. Members of the Research Wing are exempt from this imperative.

3) ORG Pilots will follow any orders given by Pilots of the Orders Primary Fleet.

3a) Unless these orders directly interfere with the ORG’s goals and ideals.
3b) Unless acting on orders given by a superior.

4) Pilots of the Military Wing will protect Research & Diplomatic Wing Pilots by any means necessary. Even if the actions taken contradict any other imperatives. Protecting the lives of any ORG Pilots and Members is of the highest priority of any Military Wing pilot.




Area of Operation

The Omicron Research Group mainly operates within the Omicron Systems, even though every chance to spread their influence outside the Order-Controlled systems is taken. The current, mobile base of operations is located aboard the research vessel Altair.

While ORG Pilots are primarily restricted to non-House space. However, research excursions and military operations may require pilots to operate sirius-wide.

While making new allies and establishing contacts, the ORG also aims to set up safe havens aboard friendly Space Stations.


Primary AO & System Classifications:

Home System: These systems are under heavy protection by the Order, and considered both as home systems to the ORG and fully safe to traverse by all assets.

Alpha-Class System: These systems may offer the chance of hostile encounters, but are seen as generally safe to traverse by all ORG assets due to a high number of friendly or neutral installations and/or forces.

Beta-Class System: Systems with Beta classification should generally be avoided by non-military assets unless an armed escort can be provided. Systems receive a Beta classification either due to an uncertain or volatile political situation, or due to an increasing number of hostile assets and forces within the system.

Gamma-Class System: Gamma-class systems pose a high risk to all ORG assets due to a high number of hostile installations and forces. Non-military assets should avoid these systems under any circumstances unless being accompanied by a heavy escort. Military-Wing vessels should also steer clear of these systems unless absolutely necessary.

Restricted System: These systems are to be avoided by all ORG assets under any circumstances. Research excursions into restricted space may be conducted with prior authorization. Pilots found in violation of these guidelines are subject to disciplinary acts or termination.




Goals and Objectives

Technology & Ships
The ORG currently utilizes the same Equipment and ships as the Order. Due to limited resources, the ORG can only operate a limited amount of capital ships at the same time, with all new additions to the fleets requiring permission from the Administration.
