Weeeeell, you need a battleship with a big CAU (8, preferable) or you need to be better at dodging than me, which shouldn't be too much of a problem. The biggest problem is staying far enough away to not get hit too much - while not being too far away to not get loot. Such is not possible when fighting against big NPC battleships like the RM BS or the GRN/Council BS.
They aren't that hard imo, it's more like gambling though, either you can kill the enemies that spawn, since they aren't too numerous and/or in good "spots", or you "get unlucky" and they wreck you. Most of the times, at the place where I do the missions mostly, I get lucky. But sometimes I get 3 battleships spawning behind me... bad luck. Or I take too long killing the first waves and take too much damage... and such.
If you do it with a friend, both flying battleships - or cruisers, though they are not that good at it - it is much easier.
I don't need any of that because Nephil with Cau 8 can charge in and still make it - without dodging.
Good thing about it is its energy consumption, its primaries are very energy efficient. 4 Zoner primaries rapid firing will not lose any power at all - it does but by the time the second wave of attack goes out, it's full up again.
Cerbs do take energy but you may fire up to 45-seconds rapidly - or 2/sec delays.
Anyways, needless to say this is done OOC as zoners dont really shoot stuff, but thats my money making process.

I would not call that the best place. Just checked it out, highest paying mission I saw was around 2.8m. Still gave cruiser, battlecruiser, battleships but that coupled with the reduced sell price of bounty hunter pilots really hurts in the long run. Tripoli still best for 'sair.

With selling the loot it's more though: you can get about 350k-500k per cruiser and 1mio-1.5mio per BS, I guess.
Depends on where you do the missions, against whom and where you sell the stuff.
Let's say you get 400k per cruiser and 1mio per BS. If you are lucky (?!) and you get a four wave attack, "best" (if you can take it, otherwise "worst") I had were 16 BS. That'd be 16 mio for the BS + 5.9 mio (because it's very likely a max. paying mission) + other scrap, like fuel often, ~22 mio credits. No way you are going to take that on your own though.
With cruisers you can get like four waves of 4-5 cruisers, though I also saw some factions with 4-7 (maybe even 8) cruisers per wave. That'd be 11.2 mio for the waves and probably something around 4-5 mio for the mission (since higher paying missions are more likely to spawn BS in at least one of the waves, unless you go up against a faction which doesn't have BS). So ... something around 16 mio. Maybe 17 mio at best. (Enjoy repairing your equipment after their missile spam, if you survive it.)
It's easy to sell credits cards gained from factions which don't have special cap "pilots", like when fighting against BHG, Outcasts, Corsairs, Order or such. Fighting against a house navy though, you will need to find a place to sell the captains/admirals, highest paying places are mostly prisons, I'd guess. Problem is, if you "farm them till your cargo hold is full", there is always a risk that the next mission brings out so many ships in such bad spots (like, right behind you) that they easily kill you, making you lose all freight. It's advisable not to do those missions on your own.
I enjoyed, for example farming Corsair missions in Gamma against BHG caps on a Legate for some time. It's rather risky though, you need to be fast and close in on the small cruisers as fast as possible, because they are hard to hit from range and they slowly nibble you to death. Also, if you stay at >2k when they blow up, the drops disappear. BHG BCs can wreck you rather easily as well, as they got massive firepower due to their unlimited cores. If you get a wave of battleships, your main goal should be to get them grouped up and from the side, so they hit each other and you don't get a full frontal cerberus bombardment...
I guess OC have good missions around their home as well or in Eta against Corsair caps. Order also got them, but the Osiris is rather weak. GRN or Council might be interesting too, as well as any other house navy, if you feel like doing cap missions. Even IMG got them against OC caps, but you'd need a CR BS then, which isn't the greatest choice, or a Council BS. You just need to find where there are cap missions available. I have only tested a few places, since I only have two BS at the moment. (Though the thought of doing IMG or GRN anti-OC cap missions is rather interesting...)
But heh, just some tipps ... somehow I felt bored and felt like explaining that.
I'm almost always doing missions alone .
You are partialy wrong here :
- biggest mission i made alone with a Legate , in Gamma : around 40 mils profit
- usualy : around 15-20 mils profit
- almost 30% of missions : over 20 mils profit
Also , with a Legate you will have only from SRC drops :
- 2 mils per each BS destroyed
- 500k per each cruiser destroyed
- 800k from each BCR destroyed
If you count also the pilots , H-fuel , etc you get from them , you will get a bigger number .
But you will need at least CAU7 if you plan on doing it alone .
