PROJECT SEKER
Project leader: Doctor Sullivan Avery
Fields involved:
Explosives, Xenoscience (Nomad branch), Energy Weaponry and equipment development
Target:
Development of cloak disrupting technology aimed against Nomad equivalents of this device. Implementation of this knowledge in practically easy to move device for service in the field Sirius-wide specifically against Nomad cloaking vessels. Side effects expected are to disrupt all human cloaking devices in effective range, given reliance on alien tech.
Resources:
The Order Overwatch placed ABSOLUTE priority for this research. That means team has every facility of The Order at the disposal, Braga weapon's polygon in atmospheric conditions and full support of other divisions. Our prototypes will be deployed as soon as it is humanly possible and tested extensively. Our aim is to push for mass production. We have extensive resources and assets at our disposal and failure puts very existence of The Order - and through extension of it: humanity - in question. We cannot fail.
Background:
With recent sightings of increased cloak usage on Nomad craft, alongside Sirius wide breakthroughs in this technology, The Order Overwatch requires R&D to develop a countermeasure. We are to take as long it is necessary however it is expected of us to take all due haste to provide functioning examples to better suit our pilots in the field to new rules of battle.
It will require deeper understanding of Nomads and their superior cloaks: what force is sufficiently effective and practically in our reach to replicate. Final device is supposed to be deployable on our snubcraft, providing general usage anti cloak means. Other than combatting Nomads, weapon provided may prove useful to screen surroundings for potential spies and stealth recon fighters of our human opponents. This is an edge we all need to prevail.
Our analysts and xenoarchaeologist proposed some theories on what caused sudden mass deployment of these devices reported across entire Sirius. The most likely involved Nomads preparing for 2nd Nomad War - previously use of cloaking proved to be simply ineffective on large scale. Now with Nomads stepping up the game, they needed stealth measures to come in and out unnoticed, prepare ambushes and prepare the way for another holocaust attempt.
Given cloaking device of both human and alien origin are based on exactly same principles, we are in position to safely test our devices on our own systems before risking usage against actual Nomad warships. We are unable to tell at this point whether it is caused by Daam K'Vosh or that cloak tech was developed independently on the way of Nomad evolution/adaptation.

Other important factor is Nomads recapture of Dyson Sphere. We do not know much about that particular piece of Daam K'Vosh engineering. It may be linked to Nomads gaining ability to deploy advanced technology in massive numbers after Toledo battle. It is currently extremely difficult to overcome issue to Order Intelligence as we cannot rely on old methods of fleet tracking to calculate next point of attack. Their sudden gained ability to hide entire fleets forces us to rely more on rumors and reports from far-end parts of Sirius... some of them may already scan Akabat's planetary defense grid right now.
Should we fail, Omicron Mu will become unsustainable for The Order operations. Immediate consequence will be neccesity of another exodus in the future. We are forced to reinforce our convoys with more escort fighters even in our most secure space due to threat of cloaked Nomad ships. Noteworthy, we have to increase patrol numbers significantly to protect our very homebases. That also makes Guild's Core operations cost even more, however and obviously this is not our concern. In most extreme case, we may be put to hunger siege as Nomads may target specifically food shipments heading to our stationary assets.
Wedjat evaluation of threat shows more reliance on co-operatives across Sirius but also giving more emphasis to allocate infiltrators inside not so allied groups for sole purpose of finding more about Nomad sightings and attacks. While what we are working on here may not actually prevent this trend, it will allow us to be more self-reliant in suppressing alien vessels presumed to be hidden at or about to actually cloak and disperse.

Admiral, there is another important bit to acknowledge. Nomads are well capable of putting solid and nearly impenetrable - by currently employed conventional weaponry - force fields around their structures as presented by several installations belonging to them, notably Akkad-class. If these aliens turn to developing cloak projector of that scale, they may be able to hide entire structures with their highly efficient power sources. It will allow them to secretly build footholds within houses on Babylon-class scale but cloaked. Scarcity of Nomad bases across Sirius works for our advantage.
Today I was introduced to rest of my team, together we are to find a way to counter Nomad cloak technology in a way our agents can utilize easily. Examining our new workplace and familiarizing myself with equipment given is over, time for the real work. I have briefed everyone on our primary objective and exchanged information that are likely to be useful in our respective fields. Each of us have time to think over possibilities and share findings with rest of the team.
Doctor Lliam informed us on what exactly powers the very technology we are supposed to counter. He pointed out that any Nomad form we have encountered is capable to power up cloaks with simply energy already produced by their bodies. As expected of it, Nomad has to drop the shield equivalent in order to power up cloak. I have personally inquired our specialists concerning already existing devices our pilots operate already. There may be two possibilities in Nomad case: shield may prevent in proper functioning of the device or that energy needs to be freed in order to power up immense requirement of the cloak. Perhaps it is both.
In The Order devices, instead of relying on power cores of a ship, we use separate high yield fuel to generate power separately from main grid. High fuel consumption would otherwise strain most of our reactors and render vessel easy picking for any hostile finding it in such state. I hope Lliam will be able to shed more light on how Nomads solve their own problems with energy consumption. Reverse studying the very practical equipment we already employ will yield surprisingly good results. Our own technology comes directly from the Nomads themselves after all...
Nomads unique physiology presents many challenges for us. The more we try to learn about them the more difficult it is to piece all elements into a picture. We now have more questions than we had before, and we aren't finding answers yet to put it all together. So far one of the elusive and challenging elements remaining is the Nomads capacity to generate, conserve and use of energy resources. Typically advanced nomad devices require enormous amounts of energy to run and we do not have such capacities. Whether this was designed by their creators and intented from the beginning or they had developed it on their own is uncertain, but what's clear is that they can utilize it and they are continuing to improve it.
Over the years the Order acquired various technological prototypes from Nomad war era, many of which are most certainly of Nomad origin and, curiously, were intended to be fused with human technology. Some of those were more or less recovered in good quality and studied thoroughly to the point we could assemble our own reverse-engineered samples, although the results often vary and success of replication rate isn't as predictable as we'd like it to be. Some are too obscure in their function to determine what purpose those devices had.
The samples of cloaking devices specifically designed to be used in human ships are quite remarkable piece of engineering employing technologies and manufacturing processes unavailable to us. Although in time the part of the device responsible for generating and maintaining actual cloaking field was separated. It had brought down technology to more managable state but lack of understanding at how Nomads are able to generate and feed the device required a different approach with a separate generator block outside ship's energy grid. This type of generator requires fuel to run and has to remain outside ship's central energy grid.

Dyson Sphere and cloaking ability? Admittedly there are many in this field who had long speculated the Nomads may indeed had or have developed long distance energy transfer. It is both astonishing and terrifying at the same moment, but it certainly explains a number of phenomena observed. Clearly the structure has played a vital role in their infrastructure. I wish we had more thorough information related to it but sadly that's not the case. Chasing Corsair empire tail was deemed more important, but I digress...
From archive records and veterans of the first conflict we do know Nomads had this ability, and seemingly had lost it after their defeat.
If they could indeed channel Dyson sphere energy into...

Our ancestors have long ago tinkered with possibility of making an object simply disappear to a human eye. Approximately two hundred years ago before Sleeper Ships ventured forth out of Sol, we have started understanding basics behind this kind of technology. During course of Sol war, Coalition was first to perfect it and deploy stealth fighters to theatre of war. While it almost perfectly bent light around ship, it was far from providing absolute stealth. Higher resolution scanners that were developed by the Alliance later to counter stealth fighters proved to be able not to detect presence of vessel but also achieve a target lock.
Eventually entire concept was scrapped by future Sirians until house of Liberty in 7th century A.S. tried completely new principles to apply similar effects to one of their experimental dreadnought hulls. Experiment proved to be absolute failure: energy required to cloak one battleship required combined energy of more than ten battleship power cores. This new kind of device blocked all kinds of emissions coming from ship itself, leaving in the end nothing that would allow to combat warship in any way.

Not many know but this experiment of Liberty scientists was crucial to how we understand cloaking technology today. As Nomad War came to an end and multum of Nomad-Human tech hybrids reached our scientists hands, we discovered that the two work essentially the same. What set us apart by centuries is making device efficient in terms of energy consumption. These days we are able to cloak ship of any size for certain duration.
