According to adoxa's site, the plugin allows them to set the distance at which ships will appear at according to what scanner you have, instead of it just always being 14k. The clue's kind of in the name though, "ShipRange".

If they'll make targets selectable right when they'll appear atleast, otherwise there's no significant difference between 10k and 14k scanner
I wonder if it's possible to change detection range depending on the size. For example you see a LF at 2.5K, but a battleship will be visible from 15K or more.

NP, just give the BS scanner 10k energy consumption per second AND/OR make it take up cargo space.
Well, anything is possible. But it'd just take extra coding as well as assigning each ship a "tag" or something to each ship. Doesn't seem too hard, but I'm sure it's harder than it sounds. Seems like something they would've added a long time ago if it did work like that. You know?
