How about as a phantom VHF? Kinda fits the bill...
Here's some size comparisons. Generally the models I make end up being about a thousand times bigger than the actual FL models I import... so I scale them down until the cockpits are about the same size, and it gets the rest of the ship to the right size as well.
First 3 are compared to a sabre and nephthys, second three are next to a cavalier:
i'm thinking about re-designing the cockpit a bit... might change the shape from a 'diamond' to a five sided cockpit, with a flat central panel and two angled side panels. The bottom of the cockpit will be made solid rather than glass as it is right now.
If I get it redesigned, I'll also be able to make the cockpit slightly smaller, which means the rest of the ship will scale up giving it a slightly larger profile.
Ok, here's what changed:
-the Top "bar" on the cockpit was removed, now it's just a solid angled pane of glass that meets at the top - realistically this would allow better aiming and vision for the pilot.
-Cockpit was scaled down so that the rest of the ship could be increased slightly in size, otherwise it'd have been too big for a light fighter and too small for a VHF.
-The bottom two glass panels on the cockpit were changed to solid steel.
