Hmm, well, traders are the foundation of the Sirius economy. Make it unprofitable and the whole game dies.

I also play a smuggler, but well, that's just another kind of trader.

Now my Bounty Hunter character would be in dire straits because I'm not really that good. Oh, but I could escort! No, all the traders are gone.

I'm thinking about a privateer character. Oops, no one has anything worth taking.

Can you see where I'm heading with this?

There is. Just not for the normal trading that is done solo. No one will hire a scout for it.

I can only invite scouts to add me on Skype and I will gladly add them to the channels where they can find employment and good payment (number of transports x 2 to 2,5 million average).

The system works, but it only works with minable commodities because there the risk is highest and thus the wish to not lose the cargo is highest as well.

I don't think we've had an unlawful opinion here.
When I see an escort I think a few things:
1. This trader is serious about getting his profit to a base safely.
2. I'm going to have to deal with the escort.
3. I might actually explode.

Escorts provide entertainment in the constant stream of power traders.

And thinking about. 87 IDs, if a trader had an escort with him, doesn't that mean I'm forced to engage the escort first? Sure, I can make a demand, but I'll have to type one fast enough, eight?

Factions are our source of RP, balance and fairplay. Ofc solo indie trader can't get an escort. He doesn't know right people.

Why so many traders/miners are not in factions? Do they all multibox, so profit is much better? Solo traders should be devastated by packs of pirates if it's true.

And solo pirating should be hard as it is.

It's MULTIPLAYER game.

That's why we can't look in one direction on this thread. Some trade/pirate solo, some do it in factions. It's two different worlds.

This must change, by force of economy and trickery. All traders soon will have 654564674 BSs and hours of bored convoy experience. And than what?

Suggestions:

1. pirates should be able to sell plundered goods much closer OR with better price. So they will use more transports.
2. they must be able to trick your scout and ambush convoy. But how? Don't answer here, just do it. Jack is hardly waiting I'm sure, hehehe

Pirates could identify a scout.and bribe him to give up the ship(s) he is escorting. Otherwise, ambushing could be done via cloaks.
