P.S. Pirating is crap at the moment, when I want to play and I want to have fun the Pirating is the last choice for me at the time being. It was okay to play a pirate - hunting down the traders while evading the patrols and bunters. It was catch-n-go game where you was always on the edge. Now traders don't even need lawfuls to defend with all the buffs they had to transports. Solo piracy is dead pmuch, especially with snubs forcing unlawful players to use capital ships and then lawfuls go in with caps too and some mess happens. Na, fu.

This is not cool.

Pirates shouldn't mine, they can mine but it's really not their main purpose - their purpose is to hunt traders. Now everything is broken so most of unlawfuls I see are just undocking to find some Navy and pew with them, not to do what they are designed for - smuggling and piracy.

Transports have been buffed to hell, you're right.

So... pirate in a transport, the Pirate Transport fitted with Charons is deadly, a 5K stands no chance what so ever, it would even smash a Behemoth to pieces, just remember to pop some decent armour on there...

Transports are now the kings of solos piracy, I still prefer my bomber however, more of a challenge Big Grin

I'm not talking about myself, I'm talking about the availability of piracy, the border of entrance into that fun. For new player it's not easy to enter that niche because transport + cau costs a lot. The pirating RP must be more available. Now it's not.

You don't even need the CAU, I don't use one, just standard AU8, can still take out most transports with ease, the ship costs around 40 mil, and armour 15 mil, more than a bomber costs, but not that much more.

Hell, they could even turn their Behemoth they were using to trade into a pirate ship, just stick the pirate ID on it, mount some charons and away they go.

Easier to point and shoot at a transport that's firing snub guns back at you, a lot easier than learning to fly a bomber. (you also have more armour and power regen than most large transports).

That's actually true. But I still think that pirating is messed much. It's always better to force people to use snubs.

True, after all, the game is designed for snubs, and small freighters.

The fact you can now fly a ship that's 16 times bigger than a station you can dock it at is... pretty funny Big Grin

I do all my pirating in transports. It's a lot of fun. And I'll take my Behemoth against your ptrans any day of the week.

It was really fun in .86 when Republican ships could pirate Liberty transports. I'd haul worthless things like Oxygen around until I came across an IC| transport, and than YAAARRRRR their cargo. The amount of rule-lawyering thrown at me was incredible.

I'd say transport pirating was ok even in 4.85. I'll just mention Ivan Mentira here for the reference. Just snub pirating was utterly ruined. Which is very bad.
