I've taken your advise and this is an update on the Minelayer:

Made an overwing style construction on the vessel to add some shielding from attacks. However this ship is definately not made for actually fighting other vessels due to the sheer danger of their cargo. As such it does not need over the top armour etc but it has got several reinforced plates and other things added so it has a bulkier and stronger look to it. The overwing ought not to be longer I figured since if they were to deploy one of those mines, they would need to keep well clear of it on all sides. So having a small gap for it to go out of wasn't the smartest idea I figured:P
Again comments are very welcome!

(The reason for this topic is to give this ship one of it's own. I plan to have one for each of my better ships to give more indepth pictures etc such as these while my main topic will have a single picture of each ship and a link to it's thread such as this.)

yes sounds better. looks more armored now as well. I wonder if you could enlarge the cockpit a bit though, without necesarly enlarging the viewport.

Could you fit the mines under the ship that you actually see ingame? you know those scary spikey looking ones.

Maybe you could think up a way of transporting them more efficiently, i don't think they would be transported with their 'antennas' already sticking out. you know like as if they are folded for transport and then unfold when they are activated. or did that make no sense at all?:laugh:

As far as I can recall, the spines are basically magnets that tell the mines to explode when something big and metal gets near. It would be perfectly logical for them to be retracted until the mine was armed.

Good points. I figured that the mines were remotely activated. An engineer busy making one, finally finishing it and then promptly blowing up doesn't seem very efficient:P

I'll work on it today though, thank you all for your comments!
