Well that's a bummer... though I can think of one way to circumvent that.
You could ask someone to movechar so that the rename timelimit goes away.
Or, like I once did myself.
A simple way of doing it, is since you have no account and it's empty. You could start FL without launchpad and see if your char is still there. If it is, then good. You can put a movechar code on it, then use that new account you made and transfer it to it. Then you should be able to rename it again.
If not.. well that's a bigger problem.
Just try to see if you can find your char by launching FL without launchpad.
I really got a problem now. Gotten a new account without any characters but now Launchpad apparently overwrote my "base" account. All my characters are gone -.- Tried to delete the Launchpad accounts and to deinstall Launchpad without success. Everything just because I wanted to rename my character without waiting 999999999 days for it.

I did ask at the beginning.
Nope, all my characters are gone now. I don't wanna blame anyone but this is really excellent.
None off you all seem to understand.

Oh, man, you messed it up. Now, only admins can recover your chars, if you ask here: http://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=97064
You have to post all char names (or one name and ask for a code for ALL ships on that account), and Admins will put a move code on each one, so you can move them to your new account (PREPARE a character which has at least 2 mill cash on it for moving fee).
The first time you launch Launchpad, it should ask to scan for existing accounts, you should say Yes. If you missed that, you should have hit the Scan button in the program, which scans your current account and displays it in the list. You have to Save the list by hitting the Save button. You should make new ones AFTER you scanned and saved your original account. And don't forget to back up your accounts with the Accounts -> Export function.
Now, that you activated your new account, and you don't have the info of the old original one, you won't be able to get it back, as the Launchpad overwrites Windows registry data to switch between accounts. So you'll get into your new account even if you don't use Launchpad to launch the game. And you cannot switch back to your old one, as you lost (did not save and overwrite) the info for that.
Yeah, I know this advice comes late, but it might help you/others in the future. I'm using Launchpad for guite a time now, so feel free to ask.

Anyway, thank you very much for the link. However it didn't ask to scan, just to create a new account. Also it didn't find anything when I used the scan function. I did use it.
Just a thought but could it possibly be that it was defective because I got several Freelancer installations with the same account?

I don't think so, as the account and the number of different versions is unrelated; all installed Freelancer versions use the same account, as the account info is stored in the same Registry entry, so it could have been scanned.

(Argh... I feel like I'm the culprit to this whole mess now. Q__Q)
You aren't. And after all you tried to help just like everyone who answered this thread. Like I said - I don't blame anyone. And as long as the admins manage to restore my characters everything is gonna be ok.
Update: Reinstalled and fixed. Thank you all for your efforts. Just thought that the character that gets transferred needs to have the 2,000,000 credits. However, at least I don't need to wait a week now.
