I wonder if expansion of some faction's ZOI, logicaly of course would help some of the unpopular factions.
Factions like the outcasts expanded slightly for example to Bretonia (newcastle), and other factions could use the same. Outcasts/Corsairs has more of a 100% logical ZOI than some factions ever will, and the popularity of the Corsairs seems rather unbalanced (3 factions, all with a fair amount of members?). The outcasts have two or so I think also.
like Gaians in Liberty, theres a planetform base in Cali and the whole enviromentalist college hippie thing isnt entirely localized in this world. I feel bad for the Gaians, there doesnt seem to be many, I figured the small ZOI made it unpopular.
im sure there are many other factions that could use a logical ZOI expansion, Corsairs in one of the sigma bordered rhineland zones? sort of a two front war? I noticed a munich hole near uh.. Kurelie I think? it was close to the theta hole in sigma 17 (munich seems like an entirely unused dead sector). I guess factions like RHA might get a boost from this, not just the Corsairs, Corsairs dont enter Rhineland very often, though im contridicting myself saying that the corsairs need an expansion, when I said that they had quite a large zoi already.
Also I guess with the alien organisms coming from Sigma, plus the young planet there, Gaians could go there also.
Clutching straw's perhaps the GC with a safe heaven in Bretonia.. ah, im running out of logical ideas..
not experienced on the entire universe and I am not biased towards Gaians or corsairs as I play a faction with an already generous ZOI.
(Disclaimer: sorry for the second idea thread, I dont mean to be a bother).
gaians are but a small bunch of pirates that formerly originate from cambridge academics. - basicly you have two breeds of gaians.... the pirates that are quite close to the liberty rogues in what they do and why they do it ( generic pirates of bretonia for that matter ) and the idealists that try to protect gaia and terrorize ( not to be messed up with running amok ) spa and cruise and planetform convoys as well as making supply runs for BMM harder.
their ZoI is very strictly down to that point. - they stay close to gaia and i think they would only expand when they "liberated" gaia... until then, they have no urge to focus on anything else. - they are not very wealthy ( they resort to simple piracy, cause they need it - and the only recent source of a powerincrease might be the better relations to the kusari goverment - which originates mostly from the fact that the bretonians secretly support the outcasts and the anti-kusari organizations ) - once the war is over, this relationship is most likely to fail - cause the kusari goverment does not need the gaians.
now - the reality of the server does not look too dry for the gaians. - their primary ZoI includes one of the more lucrative traderuns ( newark - LD-14 ) which is often used by traders of medium wealth and rarely frequented by escorts or the occasional pvper ( like sigma-13 ).
all in all the gaians have a fairly decent hunting ground and less enemies than a lot of other pirate groups. - the mollies become civilized (:P) - and there is hardly ever a BHG ( a serious one ) around. the IMG is friendly and the bretonians fly bricks ( except when they come with hussars ) - all in all, the gaians have little to complain imo.
they are not such a large group as the hessians or the outcasts or corsairs - no doubt... but that makes them different. their ZoI is limited and thats what defines this very small group. - it doesn t need to have a great amount of players to represent them.
so - you guessed it.... - i think the ZoI and balance for the gaians is perfectly fine. - they are not as blown up in importance as for example the hackers, they are not as under-represented as the hessians that are supposed to be the third largest pirate group in sirius but in fact .... are utterly insignificant.
when any pirate group needs players and a crowded ZoI to pirate and terrorize, its the hessians i think.
My main point was that the Gaian's have a cause which is logical in other places around Sirius, they've got a nice trade route to plunder sure enough, but sometimes that gets sort of boring, maybe? nothing to fight against would make it seem sort of idle, especialy the somewhat unpopulated state of Bretonia (mostly BAF/BPA that are currently suffering), and the fact remains that there are barely any gaians around in my experience. Forgot to mention the Spa and Cruise bases dotted around the place they might fancy shooting, would make more sense to cut the supply to the main target of shetland, even Curacau(no idea how to spell) right next to bretonia is left untouched. Would be most costly on spa and cruise, and I figure that the gaians want more pressure to achieve their goals.
On the Hessians, I noticed that they're struggling sort of, I pointed out the Corsair expansion as a possible increase of Hessian Targets, Corsairs in my experience dont ever go to Rhineland, except some indies randomly, who get told they're OORP.
i agree with Markam to the point that gaians should have a decent increase of fun activities.
No matter how many times we say "its for roleplay and not PvP" the fact is you get to do nothing but chat most of the time and the traders coming in and out of the same rutes become boring too. I wouldent want people who play gaians to switch their characters just because it becomes monotone. Why not spice things up a bit, like... gaians found out that the heart of pollution is not where where the pollution is amassed but near some mining sites or it comes from the foreign traders that bring unhealthy products into Bretonia. So they decide to strike at the "pollution supply lines". OR maybe they star blaming Kusary for polluting Bretonia as a strategical attack against the peoples health.
