Firstly, I really hope I didn't screw up with the preliminary search and make a new post for something that was already there. Oh, and I hope this is the right place to put this.

#2, the point. I've always been plagued by police forces after a fight "Scanning me for Contraband" as they so love to do and demanding the pilots' escape pods that I picked up from the battle. It gets a little irritating to have the police 'steal' my hard-earned pilots from me before I can even turn them in to the proper authorities. I was thinking then, after hauling my first 'perishable' load of cargo that it might be possible to do something of the same to the pilots. Perhaps make the pilots "Not Contraband" for a period of time represented by the item health and then, rather than disappearing like any other 'perishable cargo' would, be converted into a "Contraband" item that the police would then take from you (or try to).

Basically, you'd pick up a "Pilot" and it's health would degrade, until eventually it would reach zero. Once it did so, it would turn into "Pilot" or something to indicate that that pilot was now considered a runaway from the law or that you were unlawfully carrying a civilian or military officer.

The amount of time that it would take to degrade should be enough to get the pilot to a station (or preferably the nearest battleship, as the pirates are bought for more there).

I think this should be possible to implement within the game and I hope that if that's true, someone would come along and pick my idea up. Of course, if this is in the wrong place, please, someone with the powers to do so put it where it belongs...

Stay 500m away from all NPC's?

Apart from that I can't suggest muc as a remedy. I think the issue was brought up earlier, in order for people to RP more completely with pilots in their hold.

Anything I say is not intended as offensive, and to try and deliberately misinterpret it as such would be an attempt at trolling via misrepresentation.

It's not a conspiracy, it's localised bias. They're not intelligent enough to form a conspiracy.

I think all pilots should be removed as contraband. All of them.

If a player LN sees you with 15 Liberty Naval officers, he tells you to drop them. That's cool. But a lot of people use a single pilot as RP cargo. Like I have a single Freelancer in Orin's cargo as "him". Thankfully no one asks for Freelancers, but I digress.

No NPCs asking you to drop pilots of any kind in 4.85.

Let the players do that. When a Navy NPC scans you while you're not looking and sets the whole area against you, it's useless. Seriously.

Great idea. and for RPers who want to have pilots as themselves maybe non perishable versions can be sold at house home worlds?

I don't think they need to be perishable,

NPCs never ask for them, and players do only when theres an unreasonable amount in your cargo

I use a VIP to represent Isabelle... =P
but I agree, we shouldnt make them contraband. Not only is it weird, but it causes strange events with npc of bounty hunters trying to bring down a navy battleship because apparantly it has contraband..

If you ask me, only lawful pilots should be considered contraband. If a cop sees you with a fellow cop in your trunk do you think he would look the other way?

You want a representation of your character? Use a spaceship crew unit.

Possible, but boring in my opinion.

Making them contraband hurts nothing. Players can and should manage "Drop the cargo"s, not NPCs.

I have a whole army of people in my hold. Which I would agree that removing them from contraband would help.
