A bit offtop here. To be simple, SAO is based on the books - called Light Novels (season 1 on books I-IV). It has little to do with with .hack in fact, beside sharing idea of head-gear (both taking different approach to the tech used - SAO is more Matrix-like without plugging anything to brain) and MMO.

The funniest history with SAO is that author wrote story so long (LN is around 40.000-50.000 words - not sure how many Japanese characters) that it got rejected in the first place. So far, whole SAO has 16 books and is still being written.

Isnt that the point of most flood threads?

This Galaxy is vast; its wonders and beauty are almost unfathomable. But the galaxy also hides dark secrets, some of which have lain dormant since the beginning of time itself. There is a danger in secrets, both in seeking and in knowing. Some things are meant to be hidden from view. Some mysteries defy understanding, and sometimes even the things we think we know are untrue. Some secrets should remain untouched.
