Haha, I agree with that one. Who knows what might happen in those 5 years? It is this uncertainty that is keeping me away from investing into the game. I mean, how can we know whether we'll even have the time to play games 5 years from now?

In general you need package in order to access the game, stand alone ships are ship only addons to already owned game package.
I guess that there was something like 5 E tax in order to be able to play in alpha/beta , however as it seems that aurora promo package offer it for free.
You just need to click on more info. Arena Commander access is something like alpha access in other games.
Some ships are flyable now in arena commander, some are not ready yet- I guess this could had confused you.
Personally I think the VAT thing is kinda meh and I am happy that I have all the stuff that I would ever need in place.
Well, it gave me a good reason to pledge now instead of buying the finished product for a higher market price.
I just hope, that VAT won't charge me extra on the physical goods that'll be shipped one day. I was told that it wouldn't be the case when those were paid before said 1st February 2015.
Anyways, I'm looking forward to my new PC in 2016. I doubt my 660m can run the Hangar/Dogfight Module at bearable fps.

I backed on day 1, it was more like supporting the spirit of the thing, not the idea to safe money. Once one is into gaming the wasted hours playing cannot be roll-backed anyway.
I meant that EU players always pay more then US players no matter on what game. SC used to be the exception of the rule.
Currently I run the Dogfighting Module at 40-50 FPS at I5-2500k @4,7 and OCed 7870. It is fine. PC market is so terribad at the moment that I have no reason to update for getting 10% more performance (5-15 FPS more) for 2000E Haswell PC with more modern graphic.
