John listens carefully to the conversation. He looks at Samwell and tries to understand if he is wrong or not. Trusting the hackers is a bold move. John has anger issues, he knows that, but he tries to contain a complete outbreak (Channel the anger)
As Dr. Doreen talks about her son, he couldn't help but think of his own child, taken from him by his own wife. Never knowing if he is safe, healthy or happy. A cruel feeling that no parent should experience.
He taps his fingers on the table, but stops when the doctor casts her vote. A little surprised of her decision , yes.
His head leans forward, his eyes are sharp
"We are no cold blooded killers, nor are we indifferent to our fellow man's suffering, but Samwell, like Fynn said with or without us those vessel targeted by the hackers will get shot down. I'm also not naive, or a saint. Those corporation types don't give a damn about us or everyone else for that matter. The world is as it is. And no matter how much we would like to change things, it cannot be done. (grows sad) There is no white and black here, there is only grey. We do what we have to do to survive and take of our family. We are a FAMILY! I care about us and how WE live here, and less about everyone else. I know it sounds cruel but that's how it is. We take this deal, we have one less thing to worry about out there! That's good enough for me , so I vote in favour. Let's deal with the hackers."
John turns silent, his eyes have a disappointing expression.
(Revenge sounds sweeter doesn't it John.....? You crave it John ...... Coward......)
Fynn nodded again, looking around at the earnest faces of his friends.
So it is decided. We accept the offer from the Lane Hackers, and pledge a discreet buisness partnership with them concerning Intel service and cargo salvage or trade of non-critical commodities.
All Tinkers crews not comfortable with the agreement will not be forced to comply,
but are expected to be discreet about it and not to break our neutrality towards the Hackers.
Tinkers ships on the other hand will not be pirated by the Lane Hackers, and if there are any Incidents with noname Hacker members first to send the message to me or to Sturm so we can negotiate with the Hacker leaders.
Fynn waited a moment , then continued :
Anybody present who can not cope with this agreement ?
*While Doreen talked Sam had not looked upon her, his eyes were fixed on the datapad in front of him, still flashing bright with text, including the headline "Resign notice" and occasionally he looked to Fynn, not even as she showed him the picture of her son he did more than a sideglance, his eyes remaining hard, he has seen more than enough death face to face, closer and more intimate than in a cockpit, instead he just pushed a single button on the pad which goes dark before he pushes it back into his frockcoat, saying nothing at Fynns request and just sits while sipping from his drink*
