If a player attacks me and then my escort kills him without a word (because of having been already attacked) is it against the rules? We were told by a player today that we couldn't do that but we didnt fire first. We only return fire and I have told my escorts to return fire immediately if we're shot by a hostile (pirate) player.

If his shield was lowered below 50%, he can defend himself without a word.

We need to wait until our shields are critically damaged to defend ourselves? It's rather difficult to type whilst being fired upon.

We're not here to PVP at all and have a policy of NEVER firing first and only if escape is not an option. We pride ourselves on our preparedness despite this lack of a desire to fight.

If your convoy member is under fire already, you can begin engagement by simple stating: "Defending convoy!"
