Question about transferring equipment between your own ships on your own...

hi

i read somewhere that in Freelancer you could transfer items of equipment between ships on your own account in this way: bring ship A to a safe location undocked. log out and log in with ship B. bring ship B close to ship A's location. drop the items you want to transfer into space. log out and log in with ship A. tractor in items.

can that be done..?

is it safe........

Safer if they were on two separate accounts. There is a 60 second wait time when switching between characters. If there is nobody around the equipment may dissapear.

Doing "space transfers" is extremely risky. Items are supposed to stay in space for 2 minutes after they're dropped - but I've tried space transfers of equipment before and had them dissapear immediately when I logged out.

I would find another player who you think is trustworthy to help you transfer. In all my time here (what, 6+ months now?) I've never had anyone rip me off during a transfer, even when transferring a few hundred million credits at a time (though now we have the /givecash command for money).

Most faction members are generally trustworthy enough for transfers, especially since you can take their names down and if they do rip you off you can report it to the faction leaders here on the forums. Anyone with "The Angels" In their name is trustworthy as well, those guys are here to help new players out.
