There was a plugin for 3DSMax as I recall - but that's a pricey tool to obtain.

when importing into milkshape - you get 2 options .. import the mesh and import the skin. - milkshape usually does not crash when just doing the mesh ... it is mostly the auto-extracted skinning that will cause it to crash.
however - upon importing the mesh - you also get the texture information and you can pick and apply the textures yourself - which works in most cases.
that's part of the prob i dont want just the mesh, i need the textures all in place just to convert to obj, i dont have a clue how to place textures etc

is that easy to do, is it a case of click attach or something, i would i have to select the correct one, is it automatically pointing at the correct one i just click apply or something?
