Pirates can't pirate in anything larger than a Gunboat. And while the BHG ID's mean that having a Battlecruiser to escort you from Newark to Ld14 won't be feasible, there is nothing to say you can't arrange an escort while you're out in the Lonelicrons.
Having said that, a big ship like that actually tends to act as a magnet for those nasty pirating types.
You can't have everything, where would you put it?

Quote:Liberty Police Guard ID
Pilot carrying this ID is employed by the Liberty Police Guard, who:
* Can destroy traders in Liberty who belong to corporations headquartered in Houses that Liberty is at war with if the trader refuses to drop all cargo and leave Liberty.
* Can escort traders
* Can only demand allied pilots and destroy ships if they refuse to hand them over
* Can hunt pirates and terrorists within their Zone of Influence * Can lounge about watching trade lanes while drinking Sunbucks and eating Donuts
* Cannot ally with any unlawfuls except with the Xeno against non-Liberty pirate or military invasions
* Cannot participate in any unlawful actions
* Cannot lawfully enter the Alaska system
* Cannot fulfill bounty contracts
Of course, since the Omicrons, Omegas, and Sigma systems are fricking huge - that's one hell of a ZOI, and MUCH less restrictive than any of the house systems.

That's a sanctionable offense. Pirates may not ... pirate ... you in anything larger than a gunboat. If they do so, s/s it and report it.
Personally, I'll feel safer down in the Omegas if there are bounty hunter battleships escorting traders. That'll make life a bit more interesting for the pirates...

The only situation in which any ship can be pirated, in my own personal view, is if the trader is carrying pilot commodities allied or directly of the faction that a pirate belongs to. In my view, it doesn't matter what the pilot is flying, he has every right to demand the trader hand over those pilots. In fact, i've even put this into the IDs. Capital ships may not pirate or demand anything except allied pilots.
I try not to hate on you Orin, but sometimes it is obvious that you utterly despise me.

Quote:No. Thats your take on it. Just because you are satified with that does not mean it is correct. I have seen nothing from an admin that says "In 4.85 BHG cap ships will be restricted to their new ZOI, period."
As far as not being able to hire a BS because of its cost to effectiveness ratio, thats utter poppycock. There is nothing in this game that you can do to make a BS cost effective in any reasonable number of short missions. If it is the case that BS's cant be used to escort traders becasue the cost ratio is OORP, then anything a BS does that nets less profit than being an escort is also OORP.
Just pointing out the fallacy in that logic.
therre is one logical statement in the first paragraph. "just because you are satisfied does not mean you are correct". You were right and I was wrong.
However, my statement remains true and free of any fallacy.
If action 'A' nets 'X' profit, and it is OORP due to the price of a BHG BS, then any other action netting equal or lesser profit is also OORP.
