A deadly bolt of frap ray blasted across the cosmos, angling towards the ship of our valiant hero, Spaceman Spiff! Per usual, he remains unfazed. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Another bolt flies by! He's hit! Stabilizers refusing to respond, his red spaceship plummets out of control. This could be the end!
My insurance premiums are too high... reflects our hero as he flies out of control towards imminent destruction.
But wait, what's this? In the neigh-uncontrollable ship's path is what appears to be some space distortion! Now the chase has turned into a game of chicken, Spiff veering for the space oddity in the hopes of getting the vile Scum Beings to call off the chase. In this daring game of wits, Spiff refuses to lose!
Boldly, he holds on to the end, the Scum Beings pulling off at the last possible second. However, it is too late for Spiff to turn, and he enters the void!

Who am I? Where is this? What time is it?
Spaceman Spiff awakens in his smoldering wreck of a red spacecraft, feeling dizzy. Looking down, he sees an oddity - some sort of third dimension: height!
"Great moons of Jupiter!" Spiff explains in a mild oath, looking at his small, seemingly six year-old body in his standard blue uniform. "What is this?" Looking up from his spacecraft, which has changed designs into something else entirely, Spiff conjectures that he has jumped to another dimension. The adventure of a life time!
Spiff disembarked from his ship slowly, amazed at the alien metropolis laid out before him. What was this place? He had never seen anything like it! Most alien cities were twisted affairs, unbecoming to the human eye and inhospitable, with spiraling structures seeking the sky, longingly trying to reach it. This, however, almost looked human. Too human, Spiff reflected, coolly reaching for his atomic napalm neutralizer, warily eying the landscape. What twisted fiends could live in such a place?
Our hero's question was soon answered when he saw a human walk by. He was astounded - humans had yet to leave the Sol system, except for Spiff, tasked with exploring the outer reaches of space.
"Hey you, person! What is this place? And who are you?" Spiff yelled out after the human, intent on getting an answer.
The man looked taken aback, but replied levelly "This is Gran Canaria... and I'm a Zoner. Who are you?"
"I'm running this quiz-show, punk!" Spiff said. "What dimension is this?"
"Errr... are you mad?"
"No, but I'm gonna be if you don't answer me!" Spiff was on the point of brandishing his mertilizer ray, but luckily the Zoner answered. "I'm pretty sure the fourth? Listen, I don't have time for this, so if you'll excuse me..."
The Zoner easily got by a shocked Spiff, mouthing the word "fourth".
It was quite obvious to Spiff that he had jumped a couple of dimensions while evading the vicious Scum Beings. But what to do? He had to get back! The cosmos in the second dimension depended on his wily adventures. Of course, the brilliant mind of our hero couldn't fathom how he had jumped dimensions, or even how to get back. The most he could do was explore and hope to stumble across a similar phenomena, and hope that it didn't jump him forward to something like the sixth dimension.
Going back to his ship, he noted the fine details. Twin engines, large and power, attached to a small, straight body made it look extremely lethal. It was jet black, too. Attached were some odd weapons, obviously the result of skipping dimensions, for Spiff had never seen the like. Boarding the ship and sitting down in the cockpit, Spiff reflected that it was nothing like his little red spaceship. For one, it didn't have a grappling hook or anchor. Or even any napalm neutralizer side attachments, which was a shame because our hero loved those things.
There was nothing to do but lift off and try his luck in the new and strange galaxy...
