Update: Temporary maintenance at 23:30 UTC 2017-09-11 Update 2017-09-12 00:00: Everything should be back to normal
All,
This is a bit of a rushed post as I need to get to work, I'll likely add more details later.
As most of you know the web server was down for ~18 hours, and I believe this to be related to the hosting company (note the game server is completely separate and on a different host).
If you created a shortcut to bypass the launcher, I would suggest moving it to somewhere where you won't keep using it (when an update comes out the launcher will be required to be able to continue to connect to the server), but may find it again in future if needed.
Note we may need to do planned maintenance on the web server later - I will try to notify you in advance about that, and it shouldn't be down for anywhere near as long.
Please consider putting the patchlist on the game server (only the patch list, not the patches themselves) so people can keep using Launcher and thus getting into game easily, even when the webserver is down.
I mean, it is not like patching is done every day, so all the launcher needs most of the time is a green light.

This is now done - the launcher already had a system for contacting a second server as a backup, it just pointed to the same box before. Now we use the game server.
