If I were just another power trader there are plenty of alternate routes to take when Pirates are camped on your chosen route.
The issue in question is because Im a faction trader I try to keep to a set route each time I log on, pirates or not. As if I have actual delivery contracts Im trying to complete.
Sure Ill divert to avoid pirates sometimes, but if my escorts can get me through why go around?
Thats the whole point it hiring the escorts right? But going by the rule; once they get me through an encounter they have fled and cannot escort me back.
The rule was meant to improve RP but in the described case it limits it. So Im asking for an exception in the case of escorts who are under contract with a trader and actively escorting.

Vero
I dont see how the rule fits in with RP period in any situation tbh. Even if you are the person actually fleeing. It would be annoying for caps to take off recharge and come back all day, but thats sort of a strategy thats been used since war began. Pull out the tired troops, bring in the fresh ones. Rotate until job is complete. I understand in the way of keeping someone from running around the map all day playing "LOL IM NOT LEAVING CAUSE U CANT CATCH ME" with his enemies, but beyond that i dont see it being a universal rule, as it cant be justified across other situations.
Say for instance you are a rogue who fled in New York into the badlands....realisticly and RP wise you would be fleeing to Buffalo Base. Where you would be fine and not need to leave the system...the luxury of having a hidden base 45 seconds away from your enemies(lol), or possibly even a smart rogue who just lured Navy or LPI into his playing field. But yeah no game has perfect rules, sort of like i remember having to hand out bans for people cursing, when WoW has a profanity filter option for the players who dont want to see curse words. I myself dont curse, but didnt see the reasoning behind making an OPTION to see swearing if its a bannable offense in the first place.

Vero
Apparently I only THOUGHT I'd posted in here.
Anyway, I agree with Vero on this one. I primarily either fly a faction trader which has set RP routes available, or I'm flying a bounty hunter and can and do perform escort misisons.

You can always just ask the pirate on your way out of the system if it is ok with him for the escort to accompany the transport back through on a return trip. If the pirate says yes, then there is no problem. If he says no, then he probably just lost an opportunity for piracy. In some circles, that would be called Balance.

That is a great idea.:)
well we should spread the word then. I wouldn't have even thought of that possibility... it will make such scenarios a lot easier to do properly. Without people getting mad or sanctioned.

And also without further need for Admin-initiated clarifying qualifications to exclusions, exceptions, stipulations, and other legal mumbo jumbo.
There could be pages and pages behind every single rule. Trust me, you don't want to have to read them anymore than anyone else wants to have to write them.
EGAD! Isn't it wonderful what a little proactive sportsmanship can accomplish?
