Checkup
Hello once again, James.
Its unfortunate things got out of hand like they did. Before we were forced to retreat I saw the Core issuing a threat to you. I wanted to make sure you got off alright without getting hurt by them after we left the Freeport. I already sent a transmission to the administrator and the CoF about this.. unfortunate situation we found ourselves in.
Major Linnéa Nylund
Personal aide to Admiral Sara Shepard
Black Fleet, 2nd Fleet "Homefront"
This Galaxy is vast; its wonders and beauty are almost unfathomable. But the galaxy also hides dark secrets, some of which have lain dormant since the beginning of time itself. There is a danger in secrets, both in seeking and in knowing. Some things are meant to be hidden from view. Some mysteries defy understanding, and sometimes even the things we think we know are untrue. Some secrets should remain untouched.
I'm humbeled by your concern for our safety and a little surprised to hear from you again so soon. Yes, gladly we could avoid being involved in any sort of combat with the Core and everyone aboard the Kauket is safe.
'Retreated', eh? You guys made it out more or less unscarred as well, didn't you?
To be honest the fact that those Core vessels were threatening us was mostly my fault. He leans back in his chair, scratching the back of his head and looking off to the side with a smile that hinted at some feelings of guilt. I couldn't help myself to tease them a little bit. You know - poking the ol' hornets nest a little. I dunno.
I think you said something like that the other day when we were talking: We're flying under Zoner IFF, might as well behave like one. Least I can do is tell them to respect the NFZ.
Oh well. Maybe getting soft is not really bound to cell division slowing down, but instead being confronted with the inevitability of death often enough. Either way we're alive and well, and I intend to keep it that way.
Guess that's it for now. Looking forward to talking to you again soon. Keep your people safe until then. A warm smile flashes over his face briefly before he terminates the transmission.
