“Our species needs, and deserves, a citizenry with minds wide awake and a basic understanding of how the world works.” – Carl Sagan, ancient Earth astrophysicist, Data Record : Unknown.
The Terminus is the Commune’s elite branch of Research and Development. From extensive synthetic life-forms towards intricate augmentations and eugenics, the 3rd Cell of the organization is the pinnacle of technical evolution, given their in depth work with Nomad technologies and various hybridizations.
ELABORATION:
The division was created around 824 A.S. and it was founded by David Synk, the notorious scientist of the old ex-Order affiliated group, Cerberus. Despising the narrowed perspectives of the Order, he found Commune to be the place in which his new ideas could flourish and achieve the greater goals that were set by him a longer time in the past. Given the dissolving of Cerberus, Synk took the more isolationist path until he met Jared Nomak. In the due time, he experimented with Nomad technology that he managed to recover in his Cerberus days, with the sole purpose of understanding the silicon based race and to explore their origins.
At a certain point in time, Synk went missing in one of the Nomad systems, as he woke up later in one of the Omicron systems, changed. His affiliation with the Nomads later on begun to be absolute, as the sole curiosity and understanding, turned into a more or less submission to their existence. Given his new “gifts” and using his knowledge and technologies that were already created by him in Cerberus, he took the latters and presented them to Nomak. The Overlord of the Commune was impressed with the knowledge and thoughts the Libertonian had, making him quickly as the Director of the Research Division that lately was elaborated by Synk as “Terminus”, to make a tribute to the Cerberus’ flagship.
It is known that Synk prefers to pick his scientists by recommendation or by personal contact. He usually works alone on his projects and his identity is quite reclusive given the late years. Even many members of the Commune did not manage to actually see him in person. Most people consider him to be “Strange” offering them a really uncanny feeling, this being one of the reasons he usually works in solitude in his facilities. This created an even more sinister image of the division, aside from its experiments and creations.
The projects are announced and proposed by Synk himself via the NGM and are offered as “open source” for the other members of the Terminus. They are given the possibility to contribute as for the rewards are insightful.
LIST OF RANKS:
Director

RANKING DESCRIPTION:
Director – Is the founder of the division, considered as the mastermind of the technical machinations and developments within Commune. Also part of the Commune’s Triumvirate.
Stoic – As the ancient meaning of the word suggests, the Stoic is one of the main scientific advisors of the Director. He is known to have an elaborated knowledge of the Cosmos and it’s laws, understanding of human psychology and can directly elaborate new projects that are overseen by the Director himself.
Scholar – This particular rank is given to an individual who managed to prove himself through a variety of advanced development projects, from various domains. It is the mark that one individual has a good considerate skill in several domains, has extended senses in discovery and exploration.
Disciple – It’s the first step of understanding the technologies and principles that are beyond the Sirians’ concepts of science.
Aspirant – The lowest entry point in the Terminus division. This rank is more of an evaluative extended period in which an individual is tested in various conditions and proposes certain intricate dilemma that, the Aspirant is required to solve, in order to realize his capacities.
RANK PROGRESSION AND DIRECTIVES:
The members of the Terminus division are being promoted in time as their skills in R&D are more elevated. A set of known directives are the following:
- Deep space exploration and assessment of valuable resources
- Development of exotic technologies
- Elaborating the cosmological anomalies and other unknown phenomena
- Improving and extending the human condition
- Assuring the continuity of the Commune’s technological advancement
