Upon arrival, Nerva was greeted by the familiar face of Heung Hideyoshi. The representative gave a bow as he entered the room, rising again to meet him with a polite smile.
Heung Hideyoshi
"I'm glad to see you've found your way here, Professor. The Shogun is waiting for you in his quarters. Please, follow me." Heung then turned, leading the scientist through a corridor until they reached a large door at the end. After a short knock to alert the shogun of his presence, he opened the door to introduce Nerva. "Tennō, may I present honoured guest Professor Nerva Regis." After another bow, Heung turned and left.
Kohaku Hideyoshi
The large room within the shogun's quarters contained one large table and little else. The table itself held a number of items, from virtual renderings of various files to a number of collectibles. Of particular interest, an intricately detailed bow appeared to be his most recent curiosity, set out in front of the seat from which he stood to greet his guest. As Heung closed the door behind him, Kohaku offered a respectful nod to Nerva. "Welcome, Professor Nerva. I am Hideyoshi Kohaku, Shogun of the Blood Dragons. I was pleased to hear that you had accepted my invitation."
Nerva enters a large the Shogun's quarters and thinks "Bottle of sake - check, no cardamine talks - check, no exotic dancers talk - check". He makes a deep bow and then approaches the one and only table in the room. His attention was caught by an intricately detailed bow "Hmm.. I hope that is not going to be used against me.", thought Nerva. Soon after he realized that Heung left the room and closed the doors upon his departure. "Tennō Hideyoshi, it I am honored to be given the opportunity to meet the leader of the Blood Dragons."
Kohaku Hideyoshi
"Please," he began, motioning to an open chair near his own. Whether he accepted the offered seat or not, Kohaku would move towards one of the few other pieces of furniture along the far wall - a lacquered cupboard with a pair of glasses on the top. He removed from the cupboard a bottle of sake, and brought it back to the table along with the two glasses. "I invited you here to personally thank you for all of the work you have done on the Borneo Project and your assistance with the Yamoto Battleship." As he spoke he opened the bottle, pouring into both of the glasses.
Before sitting down Nerva looked at the Shogun and presented the Sake Bottle he brought as a Gift. "This was the reason that helped me and BD, or better yet Tears of Izanagi crossed paths." Nerva pauses a bit and then continues "Long time ago I met these really interesting people in Kusari, everyone seemed to be afraid of them." He stops and thinks "Now what if I would just stop telling him what he already knows? That would be a nice idea, right?". Nerva then says "I must apologize for rambling so much, I am sure that Tennō Hideyoshi is already aware of my story." Nerva looked the Shogun in the eye and told him "You see, BD are my friends. Moreover, as I am sure that Tennō Hideyoshi knows that the former Augus Daimyo found a place to retreat on my ship.." "So you see... it is natural for me to help the Blood Dragons as much as I can" He smiles.
Kohaku Hideyoshi
Kohaku raised his attention to the offered bottle of sake as he finished pouring his own. He placed the bottle he had opened aside briefly to examine the one gifted to him. A small curve traced the corner of his lip in what was nearly a smile, and he placed it onto the table delicately. "Yes, I have heard that we hold this interest in common." He took his seat, bringing his glass of sake towards him and motioning towards the chair for the professor once more. "This particular sake is a gift from Augus Yatoji. The Blood Dragons are grateful for your sanctuary to our former daimyo. What is his status?"
Nerva waited for the Shogun to take a seat and then he did the same. "When I first got to him..." Nerva looks at the sake glass " ... he was in a pretty rough shape. " He takes a sip from his glass "The truth is... I think that the fact that his own blood rebelled against him is what hurt him the most." "Nevertheless, I am glad to inform Tennō Hideyoshi that he is currently working on some scientific projects. He did mention that he really missed being a scientist, that when he started being a Daimyo he never had the time to finish his projects."
Kohaku Hideyoshi
"Of course." The shogun too took a drink from his glass, pausing to savor the taste. "It is not my place as Shogun to step in on such matters. These are our traditions, our ways, and to be defeated in one-on-one combat is an honorable loss. However, I do understand his position and feeling. Matters of blood and betrayal are often the most difficult. I am glad to hear that he is finding some peace in his projects, at least."
The door flew open suddenly as the Yobukumin Daimyo burst through, gun raised and ready. A quick sweep was taken of the room, the sight set on the Shogun, the trigger pulled..
Out of reflex Nerva picks up the bow and shoots the Yubokumin Daimyo in the chest. The green pulsating color of the bow reveals the look of disgust that was on Nerva's face.
Kohaku stood, but not before the Yubokumin managed to take his shot. It was only the quick reflexes of Professor Nerva which managed to save his life, knocking the shot wide. With his left arm lying limp as it struck his shoulder, Kohaku quickly snatched a long covered item from table's centerpiece in his right hand. With a swift sidestep, Kohaku launched it towards the would-be assassin as he struggled to get up for another shot. The cloth fell away as the projectile flew through the air, light reflecting off the green blade as it was revealed. In a fraction of a second, the ceremonial blade had lodged itself into the skull of the Yubokumin Daimyo.
With a sigh, the Shogun dropped back into his chair, his eyes set on a space on the floor while he collected his thoughts. "Professor Nerva," he began, not looking up. "I understand that this is asking a lot, and I cannot thank you enough for saving my life, but we must act, and quickly. I need you to go to the Kijima auxiliary and tell them that the Yubokumin have made an attempt on my life." He looked up to meet the gaze of the professor, the green glow of the bow adding an eerie tension to the room. "If you value our friendship and your relationship with the Blood Dragons, you will tell anyone that asks that I was uninjured here today."
