Doc's schedule was open. A recent transmission from his old friend, Nerva, had his interest. He made time to meet with him. Apparently, he had something that he wanted to show him...to research...something that was a great concern to both men. His door secured to his on ship quarters, he awaited the arrival of Nerva Regis.
Doc was going through records and files before he stopped to think. He then rose to get himself a glass of Scotch.
He took a sip and stood by the window, looking out across Omega 49. He was ready to share some of his deepest, darkest research secrets with someone. If Nerva was confiding in Doc on this, it only seemed fitting.
Nerva checks again that the sample containment is secured. After being 100% sure that the container is safe to be moved, one of his droids comes and picks it up.
Once the Corvo has undocked the Unity, the large battleship activates its cloak device and fades into nothingness. Ten minutes later, the Corvo dock's the MFE ship, Nerva followed by the droid are on their way to meet the Doc.

Nerva and his droid didn't get far on the ship as Doc himself intercepted them near an a small airlock. His face was stern, one of business. It was obvious that Nerva had his undivided attention. He entered a code and opened the lock which went to a small shuttle craft. "This way," was all he said. Once Doc, Nerva and the droid were aboard and the ship sealed, he broke from the main ship and headed for Gran Canaria. As they flew, Doc gave a brief explanation.
"To this point, no one knows of what you have. My using this shuttle is routine so it is nothing suspicious or new. We will get a first look at this in my private lab." For the moment, he said nothing more.
Tombstone Estate was large but with the colder temperatures it was far from the paradise it once was. This gave Doc a lot of privacy. The once flourishing flower gardens that covered the grounds were now evergreens. Nerva was no stranger to Tombstone so Doc spared himself the introduction. Once inside, the grounds were secured and Doc stepped over to a doorway that led into a walk-in freezer, stocked with food and provisions. Beneath a pallet of food was a door that slid open.
"This way," he instructed. Once in, he spoke something in Latin and the door slid shut, covered by the pallet.
A hallway led into a large, underground room. It was here that he began his full explanation.
"it is here that I do my deepest, darkest, most secret work. There was a time when doctors were considered monsters. They were burned at the stake for the fear generated for the experiments they did. If they were not executed, they were banished. Many lived reclusive lives in small homes somewhere deep in the wood or underground. They were considered evil because those same doctors harvested the organs of the dead to study them and try and find cures. They were inhuman because they would use animals for experiments. Nerva Regis, I am every bit the monster men before me were as you are about to see."
Turning on the lighting, he gave an overview. "This is my own laboratory. It is deep enough under ground that bombardment from space will not collapse it and it is shielded from sub surface scans. You are the first to see it besides my late wife. Even my children know nothing of it."
On his way to the table where he would begin to study the toxin, he made a stop. On a table were a couple of boxes, a microscope, petrie dishes and a cage of lab rats. "I will show more of this to you later but this is where I began to study the mysteries of the greatest evil in Sirius, Cardamine. To this day I study its mysteries. I want to reverse its effects so that those who want to be free of it can be but to this point, I have had only limited success." He looked at Nerva. "Remember what I said about doctors being monsters? Can you imagine if the Maltese found out about this? The bounty placed on my head? Governments demanding I turn over my formula if I ever found it?" He tapped the droid carrying the toxin, "this will have much the same effect. Once I get a good preliminary look at this toxin, I will show you more about that cardamine research."
With that, they got to the exam table where Doc was set up for it. "Shall we begin?"
Nerva was glad to be back on solid land, especially back on Grand Canaria. Unfortunately, this time the matter he had to discuss with John was really urgent. In his last encounter with the Cultists, Nerva got his hands on some rather disturbing toxic compound. His greatest fear was that the Cultists were preparing to launch an new weapons against the population of Sirius.
As he met John, Nerva noticed that Doc seemed to be really concerned about this meeting. Soon he found himself in a hallway that was leading to a secret laboratory that Doc had set up. He quickly realized that this was a laboratory in which Cardamine was being studied. No matter how interesting the Cardamine research might have seemed, Nerva knew that they have to solve more pressing matters at the time.
Once Doc finished setting up the necessary equipment , he gave Nerva the ok to bring the container. Interestingly enough, Nerva did not have to say anything to the android, it just brought the container, set it up o nthe table and retreated to a safe distance.
"Although I have some experience with this type of compound, reverse-engineering it can't be done by only one person. Do not worry about costs or equipment, I will provide anything needed in order to prepare ourselves if this will be used against Humans."

"I did not plan on doing this work alone, Nerva," he replied. "You came to me for help, not to do it for you." He then smiled, "I think together we will do just fine."
He then handed Nerva a lab coat, latex gloves and safety glasses while putting on the same and going over to the table where the sample was sitting. In his hand was tricorder scanner which was set for a low density. He began scanning to find a baseline on it and to find hidden hazards. To this point, he saw nothing of concern. It was, after all, a low density scan.....that and it was something unknown. He then started thinking old school and went to get a microscope from another table.
He went over to where Nerva was. "Shall we get started, Doctor?"
