Played a few years back but never really got too involved, can't wait to get back into it though, not sure how I am going to start again but i'm sure ill figure it out, looking foward to seeing you all at some point!
Howdy hey, neighbor! If you're starting fresh again, a good place to start would be to scrounge up a few credits for a ship. Most starting out might go for mining in Pennsylvania, but you might also try flying around to see if a transport will hire you as a scout. Then there's always npc missions you can run; I recommend high projectile speed weapons like Flashpoints and Purple Goddesses to start with.
Once you're comfortable with money, it depends on what you like to do in Discovery. If you're more focused on the role playing aspects of the game, either a Light Fighter (for running from hostiles) or a Pelican (small, cheap transport "gunship" with 800 cargo for side-money) is what I recommend. If you're more into PvP, check out the "PvP & Combat" section of the Pretty Helpful Tutorial Database!
Hope you enjoy your stay. There's more than enough meat in the tutorial section to get you started, and I really recommend you lurk around the forums. cx There's a lot to take in I know, but give it about a month and it'll be more familiar.
