yeah it is boring when you dont actually have a proper go at it.

when you go against more than one single easy AI (in terms of both numbers and difficulty) and then you reach the mid-game then it really does start up as then, thats where the giant fleets come into play

They said it was coming out in 2008 but they moved it back to autumn this year. Looks good, although I haven't heard about space action in it before.

[19:25:12] Johnny (Jam): Tomtom, I will beat you with a spoon.
[14:22:56] Prarabdh Thakur: KILL HIM WITH A SHEEP.
[17:40:48] Eagle (Junes): Tom should be slapped with a spoon.
[11:32:18] Warspite: Thank you for being so awesome Tom. <3
[18:17:36] Metano: I love you tomtom
[20:06:24] Warspite: I will seriously give you epic head.

for space action i would prefer Star Trek Online alot more than Stargate Worlds.
if i want ground combat i would prefer Stargate Worlds than i would Star Trek Online

Star Trek's ship combat is pretty much like Bridge Commander only more better and alot more immersive.
but it's ground combat doesnt look that good.

plus the last i heard about Stargate Worlds was that it ran into some pretty big finacial problems and that the staff had been working for atleast a month unpaid.
nevermind the fact its taken ages! it started work when Perpetual Entertainment started Star Trek Online back in...2004? 2005? and they are still nowhere near beta while Star Trek Online, now in the hands of Cryptic, are nearing the start of closed beta by the end of the year and they have only had the game for about a year and made alot of headway

If you're looking for an in-depth, hardcore space sim, then I can only say one word: Freespace. Some may doubt me, but the Freespace series has set new tiers for what space simulation, combat games should be like. It's been around for many years already, but the gameplay can hold up to, and even surpass, modern games of the same genre. You can easily find the game for download now too, as the source code was opened to the public. A community of people developed the Freespace Source Code Project (FSCP) to update the game engine to work with newer hardware, all while still maintaining the original story and gameplay.

For all the nay-sayers, I present you with this:

Taikodom is hard to get into, and primarily brazilian, so unless you are fluent in Portuguese, enjoy not talking to a whole lot of people

Holy hell, that actually looks pretty amazing. Now, if I can get an equivalent to the Circe/Maxim combo from Freespace 2, I'll be all over that.
