Hi, I played Freelancer many years ago and I decided to give Discovery a go, in SP mode for now until I get a feel for it. I have the following issues with the current version (90.2):
In SP if I launch the game through the launcher, all my savegames disappear. I have read about it on the forum and it's expected behavior, advice was to launch the mod from outside the launcher using freelancer.exe. That works, but then I don't get the enhanced resolution support, max I can have is 1280x960x32 which is really ugly on a 1920x1080 screen.
I tried on top of it other tools like jflp but that simply makes the game not work anymore.
So my question is simple: is there a way to play the latest version in SP mode and have both savegames not disappear, and widescreen support?

The best solution to this is to join Multi-Player instead.
If you really really want SP, then this might help you:
- save files are in folder ( c:\Users\%username%\Documents\My Games\Freelancer\Accts\SinglePlayer\ )
- DSLauncher.exe only deletes *.fl files (other filetypes are safe in that folder)
- save files are not deleted when you launch DSLauncher.exe
- save files are deleted when you click "Launch Game" in DSLauncher.exe
So while having your game running copy your save files somewhere else (I just .zip them in the folder).
Next time you want to play, launch DSLauncher.exe, click "Launch Game", copy the save files back to save folder before the game actually starts.
Yes, it is a hassle, so come to play in MP with us. You wont get the feel in SP anyway.
On the other hand, in MP you get other people willing to help and give advice.
And if you PM me your character name, I will send you some credits as welcome gift.
since they now have a border world train …. 4200 cargo, why cant freelancers get it?....tried the pirate train was told its illegal in liberty....not very realistic

I figured a work around to keep your SP Mode , rename the saved file Restart.fl to Save.fl, and when you log back and go to load, it will be listed as New Player.
